Good morning ladies! Old thread

Let's have an awesome week!
I would never DTD while nursing.... kinda creepy. I have let a kid suck on my pinki though.
All this DTD talk has me cracking up! We DTD once but due to my oh so lovely IUD, I am bleeding and I hate it...what makes it worse is that people say it can last for six months.

On a more positive note...I super excited because Charlotte went eight hours last night between feedings! She went down for the night at 7:30 pm and didn't get up for her first feeding until almost 4 am! It was kind of weird getting up for her first feeding and feeling kind of well rested! I'm hoping that this trend continues!

DH is now on leave which is great. It is so great to have an extra pair of hands around the house and I'm going to enjoy it while I can because come January his ship is sailing a lot and he will be gone for a few months. I'm not too worried though because by than Charlotte will be three months and will hopefully have her own routine by than and also, my family are all willing to come and help out. It is so nice living closer to them. We moved from the West Coast to the East Coast this time last year and what perfect timing to move closer to family and have another baby!

In other news...my oldest turned 3 on Thursday. I was surprised at how emotional I was. All three of them are growing up so fast and I am so enjoying watching them grow up.

I best be off. We have a birthday party to go to for my friends twin boys. They turn one today and we are going over to help celebrate. This Mama is such a strong woman...her husband has been out to sea for six months (he comes home on the 22nd) and she has been raising the twins all by herself! I think this celebration should be for her!

Funny, we had a night like that last night too. He nurse at 8 and at 1:45 I woke up with my boobs leaking through the pads all over the sheets. I went ahead and fed him hoping that would get him through the night. No such luck- he nursed again at 4 and 6. It was weird though- I could have got up for the day at 2 am. I haven't felt so rested in months. :

Oh well I guess we have to take turns for who gets sleep around here lol..... I only got one hour of sleep before baby was up needing me. And ended up staying with him all night as he wanted to nurse off and on throughout the night sigh.. not very restful for me (we don't share a bed, since he has to sleep upright, so when I have to stay with him it's on the sofa recliner... sigh).

So is anybody else getting obsessed with anything baby wise lol? I'm currently obsessed with wraps..... and trying to decide what kind of woven wrap to try..... I love our stretchy wraps but the light cotton one is already stretching out, and the fleece is to warm except for the coldest of days!

Hi ladies!

So sorry, Rae, that you didn't get sleep! We all know how it feels. I think that why we get so excited and we come on here and say, Wow I'm so rested! What a difference!

AAM - I spent the last 2 afternoons over at my MIL's, which really helped my mood. I think I was also a little worried that she's going to be taking care of Nora when I go back to work and hasn't spent much time with her. Yesterday she was able to give her a bottle and get her to sleep, so we both feel a bit better about everything.

This week is my company's Holiday party, and I'm going to go. It's on Thurs during the day from 1-4. My MIL is taking Nora for the afternoon. Luckily the place they're having the party isn't far, like 20 min away. I think MIL will be fine (she did raise 3 kids already, for crying out loud).

Today we're cleaning out the furniture for my in-laws to come pick up so that tonight we can PUT UP OUR TREE!!! Yay! We may not decorate it tonight, but I want that sucker up! And I want to light one of those candles that smell like Christmas trees so that it feels Christmasy. I'm ready for the season, damnit.

Subbing - sorry I haven't kept up. Finals week as well as having company, my dad flew in from CA for the week, means not much time for play.

On sleep - ha, I feel lucky because little miss actually slept a 4 hour stretch last night! She didn't wake up until 2 am. Then was up to nurse at 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30. Those early morning hours are her cluster feeding time these days and I hate it. She ends up sleeping really well all morning when I can't be sleeping. Sigh.... but congrats to those of you who got good sleep last night!

DH and my dad are currently putting the crib together. The bassinet was only being used to occupy Elina with the mobile while I went to the bathroom or something, so onto craigslist it goes. We are going to sidecar the crib to see if she'll sleep better than in the bed, because she wakes up all the time from us wiggling around. DH keeps going out to the couch to try and make nights easier on me but that can't continue, it doesn't make us feel close as a couple. I am hoping this will work because I can just slide her over when she's done nursing and maybe she'll sleep deeper since I will still be next to her but not jostling her. Fingers crossed!

Yay for good sleep, ladies! Ainsley has slept for 5 hours in her bouncy seat the last two nights. Oh my was it heaven to get to sleep laying down! Last night she was awake, I popped a paci in her mouth, she spit it out.. back in, back out, back in and she was out! It was beautiful, haha.

Orion.. I feel for you on your dh leaving. It's not easy doing it alone. Glad you have family to help!

Rae, I'm sorry you're not getting good sleep.

Carrie, I'm glad that you're feeling better!

AAM: Ainsley is tongue-tied. That's why she makes that awful clicking sound while she nurses. When we get back from visiting dh she'll have her follow up appt. for her projectile throwing up (which she hasn't done since Monday!!) & at the same time get the new lab slip for a follow up u/s just to be sure it's not pyloris stenonsis, and get a referral to an ENT to see if she needs clipped. We're leaving either tonight or tomorrow morning to go see dh.. I'm so nervous about the drive. But, either stay home and have a hard time, or risk the drive being terrible to get some help for two weeks. Blah. Where's choice #3?

I hope that everyone has a good week!

B does the most annoying, loud click. He breaks suction about every other suck and it's so noisy. So far, it's not messing with supply, weight gain or making me sore but it's so annoying. The LC I spoke with on the phone said it was his way of handling my oversupply but I'm certain now that's not it because I don't have OS anymore. He can stick his tongue past his gums so I assume he's not tongue tied but I have no idea what it could be.
Nora does the clicking thing too. It sounds like she somehow doesn't have a full seal (if that makes sense) but it started right about the same time that she stopped choking and coughing b/c of the fast letdown/oversupply. So, somehow she's throttling the milk flow by making this clicking. It was really only causing a problem when the thrush on my nips was really bad b/c whatever she was doing with her tongue was really painful.

Her tongue sticks waaaay out though, so I do not think she's tongue tied, either. I can see the frenulum and it's right where it's supposed to be, so there's nothing obviously "wrong" - and she's eating plenty so I think it's just something she does.

Hey mamas! It's Saturday! : But DH is at the office on a Saturday again... No fair!

Jenn: Thanks for posing the DTD question on the other thread. I'm stalking the thread waiting for remarks!

Sonshine_Rae: So sorry you didn't get sleep. Like Carrie said we all know what that's like.

Orionbelt: I can't imagine how lovely 8 hours straight must be. I won't complain, however, because Calla's sleeping habits are totally tolerable. Still 8 hours would be luxurious - I mean if you were asleep too the whole time. Even when Calla does her six hours, I usually wake up after three or four in case she's going to be hungry, I guess. Or my boobs wake me up.

Carrie: I'm sure Nora will be fine with your MIL. Best of luck!

Faerie: Good luck with sidecarring the crib, and enjoy your company!

Megan: Good luck with your trip and the tongue-tie issue. Be safe, mama.

Oh and Carrie and Changed: Maybe your babies do the click because they're just used to doing it, even if they started doing it for OS and OS is no longer an issue, it may just be a habit for them now.

AAM: Quickly b/c my little darling is starting to squirm a bit in the Moby. I just got two new nursing bras, a new Maya wrap ring sling, and some Calendula Wash and Lotion for $25 total.

A woman who lives about a block and a half away from my house used to have a really cool shop called Mothersville, that unfortunately went out of biz while I was pregnant. She had a sale at her house to get rid of what she had left. I wish she had more stuff in my size - maybe I should have went earlier. I'm really happy with what I got though.

Calla and I had a nice walk around the neighborhood afterwards. Pretty nice day except we miss daddy and we're both hungry now so I gotta go and feed her.

Enjoy the weekend!

I had a long response online ready to post the other day, but my SIL navigated away to itunes for some music. GRRR. I guess I can't complain b/c it got my Christmas tree decorated.

On DTD in a cosleeping household: we started to feel odd about it when DD was 2 or so. We still DTD when she's in the same room, but we make sure she's sound asleep, and we have a twin bed sidecar on our King, so we try to make sure that she's on the other bed. Alternately, we used to "plug her in" to a movie, and ask her not to interrupt us during the day time. We haven't tried since having a second child. Today was supposed to be the day, but DH got depressed about DS being a fussy one, and we didn't come home to give it a try while DD was out.

AAM: DS screamed for hours yesterday. I don't know why, and was tough to soothe. I'm still exhausted.

On the changes to life with a baby and what our partners have to deal with: every relationship is different, as we know. My deal with DH was sorta like one that children make with parents: "I will promise to feed my kitten every day and scoop his poop." To convince him to have kids, I promised to take on the lion's share of the diaper changes, etc. I marvel at those families who balance everything-- every other feeding (with formula), every other diaper change, etc.

Our lives change drastically, and each of us mamas has to figure out how to dealw ith those changes with our partners. Some negotiations take place in discussions, others come about more quietly. My heart goes out to those of you whose hearts are hurt because of this change with your DP.

I'll lose this post too if I don't go ahead and sign off now. There's more I wanted to say.

Happy weekend to you, mamas!

^ Ooh Kelli, thanks for the DTD info! Sorry about losing your post. I HATE it when that happens. Wish it would autosave a draft or something.

I just tried on one of my new nursing bras and I'm in heaven! I had underestimated my bra size originally and then I couldn't find any in the local stores in the size I thought I was. So much more comfortable now. I'm going to order a ton of Bravados in this size now. Yay! I'm like 30% less grumpy now that I have some nice fitting bras.

Megan, Helena shares Ainsley's birthday and also has a tongue tie. She has had some weight gain problems as well as reflux. We have an appointment with the ENT on the 22nd. Let me know how yours goes!

Helena got her casts off and is now wearing her corrective shoes with bar. It is gonna make babywearing tough ! Anyone have ideas for how to pad it to make it comfortable? I am still feeling really overwhelmed and have a hard time making it to my computer. I could use a massage and a nice soak in a hot tub!!

I am getting a bit frustrated with Keir's sleeping habits...I was really hoping he would be a lot more like Ewan and a lot less like Rufus, and I keep thinking he is headed towards being a bad sleeper like Rufus....though truth be told he probably falls somewhere in the middle. Ewan was sleeping 8 hours but this point and 12 hours but 3 months...Rufus never did longer then two hour stretches till his first birthday.

Keir was doing a good 4-5 hour stretch every couple of nights and now he is back to about 2.5-3 hours every night...it's kinda frustrating.

I know what you mean about changes in sleep schedule. It's tough to backpedal.

Heddybee- good luck adjusting to the new shoes. I remember my cousin dealing w/ that progression of treatments & now her LO is in high school!

Ditto on poorly fitting undergarments impacting your mood. Such freedom once the problem is solved!

AAM: We DTD, but then DD wanted to know why the door was locked while she watched Clifford in the LR. Too funny. We thought it'd be the sleeping baby on the twin bed next to us who'd interrupt.

Those little Trumpette tennis shoe socks make me giggle. DS was getting his feet caught in sleepers, so I moved to outfits w/ socks & he is much happier!

I've noticed that as Carolyn is sleeping more... I feel MORE tired! I think my body is confused with all this sleep. Somehow I feel more rested after being woken up 5 times a night than when I get 8 hours uninterrupted!

So weird ladies!! Addie is doing this now too and also NOT choking and sputtering anymore. Gotta have something to do with dealing with a fast letdown/over supply thing.

Yeah!!! Awesome news! As for padding it... maybe with receiving blankets? I'm not sure how you're wearing her if that'd be possible. Good luck!

AAM: Ok, second funniest thing to happen since Addie was born, and it has to deal with poop too! We were taking a bath together b/c 1)she needed one badly and 2) she was having a really fussy night, seemed to have some gas that was hurting her. She wanted to nurse, so I just leaned back and we were happily nursing... and I heard what I thought was a little baby fart causing bubbles. I laughed, how cute. Then another. And then Dh, who had come in to say hi, started laughing hysterically. She'd been POOPING! In the bathtub! : And it was a big one too. She was surprisingly still clean, but the bathwater when I turned on the light (we take baths by candlelight) was bright orange! Needless to say I had a quick shower while Dh dried her off.

Eeek, girls, I'm going to be by myself for 3 days this coming weekend!!! Dh has to go down to Santa Cruz and trade my Dad's truck for his truck. My Dh needs a new, bigger truck and my Dad wants an old, smaller one... so they're switching. But it means I'm going to be on my own for the weekend AND I'm super jealous b/c I've been wanting to go home for a visit for a long time. We can't fit Addie in our truck though, it's a little toyota tacoma. I SO wish I was going though.

And it's snowing!!! : We don't get too much snow up here, so it's fun when it happens. Especially on a weekend. We've been taking walks with Addie bundled up and in the wrap and it's so funny when a snowflake hits some open skin - she's so startled!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

I know what you mean! I got seven hours last night, one 4-hour stretch and one 3-hour stretch, and I woke up feeling almost normal. It was...weird. Sometimes it's hard to fall asleep because I am anticipating her waking me up any minute!

Well this week is much better than the last! No more stolen purses, lol. I've replaced most things in my purse and the rest is on it's way in the mail. No one ever turned in my purse, so I'm still upset about that, but life goes on. But because of that I have met some very kind people. I've been very blessed to have been given a sling to replace the one I lost. I got it from someone in this DDC. I'm not going to say names in case they would rather me not, but thank you. You are so very kind and Katherine loves the sling. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. My husband also sends his thanks...

Christmas shopping is all done and all we're waiting for is one last present to get to our house via UPS. Other than that, all presents are wrapped, stockings are stuffed, cookies are baked, and we're ready for Christmas!!! WOO-HOO! ONLY 11 MORE DAYS!!! I can't wait!

On a sad note... I found out that someone who used to be a part of my family killed her child. Her mom divorced my cousin a LONG time ago so I haven't seen her in about 10 years, but it's still a shock. I can't believe that someone can be so cruel. Apparently (from the autopsy reports) the baby had been abused for a while... Here's the articles if anyone wants to read: #1 & #2

Well, my life is boring other than that, so I'll shush, lol. I'm silently reading what everyone says even though I don't reply. Hope everyone has a great week!!!

p.s.. just dyed my hair... I got bored and decided to do this & this, lmao!!! Oh yeah
