How do you deal with morning sickness TF style?

This is my first pregnancy that I am totally TF. But nothing sounds good. What did you do during your pregnancy to keep from throwing up or just feeling like crap. I don't want to move because I feel so sick. I don't want to eat because most food sounds gross. I want to have a healthy baby, but am dreaming of cakes and cookies now.

This has been my issue this first trimester. Suddenly any dairy sounds DISGUSTING (no more kefir smoothies for me ), and all I want is CARBS (and we try to eat only sprouted grains). Eek! Honestly, what I have been doing is just listening to my body (whichin reason) and trying to get calories... eating something is better than nothing, right?

One thing that HAS helped me is some natural REAL ginger brew.

But honestly, I can not take CLO without throwing up, my pregnancy tea infusion that I want to drink a quart of a day sounds disgusting, and don't even MENTION liver to me. I am just not at 9 weeks and starting to really eat eggs again at least! I am hopeful that once I reach the 2nd trimester I'll be able to be better at TF eating.

Sorry to not be much help, but just know that I am struggling at this with you!!

Be sure to eat something right before bed. Something with a good amount of fat and protein in it (piece of cheese, an egg, a glass of milk, etc.). Then have something ready to eat first thing in the morning. Something that doesn't require any prep, you can just grab it and eat it before the nausea sets in... it doesn't have to be big, just something to prevent your stomach being empty. Don't even think about it, just eat it, stopping to think can trigger your nausea. Once you have something in your stomach, you can then go about your morning and prepare your breakfast at a more leisurely pace.

A cup of ginger tea with honey first thing in the morning can help to settle your stomach if the above doesn't work. In most cases though, making sure you put something in your stomach right before bed, and again immediately when you get up will help prevent the nausea.

nothing worked for me except carbs and sugar.
Personally, i believe the theory taht these foods sound "good" to us because they were the foods least likley to be spoiled. Meats, dairy, etc, historically were spolied/contaminated with bacteria and stuff that could be harmful to fetuses, so we naturally evolved to avoid those foods, and to seek out the foods least likely to be spoiled/contaminated, like fresh fruits and bland grains ( bread , oats, rice, etc)
It's just a theory, but makes sense to me.
I lived on ice cream with dd and well..almost nothing with ds....I lost 32 and 15 pounds in each pregnancy. It was AWFUL.

I cannot remember where I read this...it was many moons ago that I was dealing with the morning sickness...

But research MDC for dandelion root or milk thistle. Both are supposed to help your liver handle the hormone surge that happens with pregnancy. With ds#1 I was sick as a dog for 15 weeks...I ate SAD and was VERY carb heavy. I also had PUPPS which indicates liver stress. With dd#2, even though TF, I was still having the same sickness and the PUPPS started really early. I said I was not going through that again and started researching like crazy about how to avoid the sickness and the PUPPS. All roads led to my liver being particularly stressed and starches exacerbating the problem.

Funny thing...every time I ate a bowl of soaked oatmeal for breakfast I was so sick I couldn't move. When I started eating protein, veggies, some root veggies and fruit, I was good again. The morning sickness eased and the PUPPS went away.

Hugs. I know how horrible morning sickness is! Take care of yourself.

I read somewhere to eat protein in the middle of the night, like a handful of almonds next to your bed when you wake up to pee. And I'm sure there is something in Healing Our Children about morning sickness, but I lent my copy out to my prego sis.

I'm 13 weeks now, and coming out of the really bad sickness. Been slowly better for a couple of weeks now, blessedly. My head is still spinning from all the non-TF things I have been doing to get by while I've been sick. Pizza, etc.

One thing I discovered is that one of the things that most puked me out, eggs, has turned out to be something I have a sensitivity to -- for about a year without knowing it. Eggs were causing some --er -- itching, which miraculously went away as soon as I stopped eating them. Then, to experiment, I added them back in, which caused the itching again within 24 hours. So what I'm saying is that my body knew exactly what I shouldn't have. Wise pregnant body. Now it's making me suspicious of my other big nausea triggers -- coconut oil, peanut butter, kefir. (Why kefir?? Why?)

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that there's got to be some wisdom it it. I like the "non-spoiled" idea from pp.

What do you crave? I found that when I ate what I craved, I felt the closest to normal I could come. I craved Indian food. Still do. So I tried to ignore the fact that it was white rice and white naan bread.

Another good thing to remember is that in the first trimester, the baby doesn't have the placenta to act as a filter for it. The child is living off your blood directly, as my midwives said. So your body, your senses, have got to be the "filter" of dangerous foods and substances, until the placenta is there to do some of that protecting.

Well I feel super sick. But I was doing some dowsing that I need liver and spinach for my sickness. I ate some liver finally last night, and I felt better than ever.

I just am craving pizza, ice cream, chinese food (more like egg rolls), all junk food. How can I have a healthy baby? I actually felt great after eating an apple fritter last night. I never eat those, and I went through the whole night feeling great. Why??!!

So, my midwife introduced me to almonds my last pregnancy. I always had some on hand. They are kinda like a natural Tums. Fair amount of calcium...they settle the stomach and fill you up with protein and fats.

OK, so what you need is a personal chef to make you soaked-flour pizza, raw ice cream with rapadura, and egg rolls fried in coconut oil. Yeah, right. Only in celebrity-land.

Or you need a tribe to do the cooking for you. Yeah, that's it! We should create regional TF pregnancy support groups, to cook for each other and keep people from falling off the wagon during morning sickness...

I've had extreme morning sickness my first two times (lost 35 and 25 Lbs and had to be on Diclectin/zofran the whole time) and I am now 8 weeks and no symptoms. this is my first TF pregnancy. before getting pregnant I did a lot of research because i really didn't want to put my body and baby through that again. This thread was really useful to me!

I started taking dandelion root- milk thistle tincture before getting pregnant to help my liver get in better shape so as to process the hormones better (apparently that's the problem behind it). I also was taking kombucha (some people recommend that you NOT start this if you were not taking it before getting pregnant).
I have warm raw milk with coconut oil when i get up to hold me over until breakfast is made. some raw honey in it is nice.
I take the DRMT extract with a bit of water soon after breakfast. And I am taking Maca. this is really good at regulating hormone production and was traditionally taken in peru to get pregnant and stay pregnant.

I have to watch my blood sugar very carefully and to stay steady i eat a lot of protein and fat. If i have too many carbs my blood sugar drops too fast later and i start to feel nauseous.

HTH
I know how horrible it feels.
