I have two Chanukah *themed* books, but I'm looking for something that tells the story with emphasis on the significance of lighting the Menorah.

Thanks!

I bought my now 4 yr old dd a bunch of books last year for Chanukah. Let me look through them and I'll give you a couple titles of the best ones.

I have several that aren't what you are looking for, but I have to tell you, our fav book is The Runaway Latkes.

OK, I have one that is 10 pages long of the Chanukah story followed by a page of why we light the menorah and why we play dreidel. It is "Festival of Lights" by Maida Silverman and illustrated by Carolyn S. Ewing. DD did not like it much last year (too much narrative) but loves it this year.

We also have a scholastic book "The Eight Nights of Chanukah" by Judy Nayer. It is broken into the 8 nights with something to on each night...and the second night is the story and why we light the menorah.

All my other books do not tell the story, just mention that a great miracle happened there...

Hope that leads you to a good book!

My ds loves his "My First Chanukah Board Book" - it's an accurate telling of the chanukah story and describes how to light the menorah, and has some counting and matching games.
