Just lost my mucus plug!!! TMI

I think I just lost my mucus plug. You would think I would know w/ this being my 4th baby but I have never noticed losing it before. I can't imagine it having been anything else. TMI ....... I was sitting on the floor getting a b-day present ready for my oldest (the oldest girl I nanny is going to be 13 on the 16th and her party is this afternoon) I stood up and felt something really strange in my pants so headed to the bathroom and it looked like I had a cold and had hocked up a giant lugie. Ewwww. It was yellowy and clearish. there was no pink or red or anything but I still think that's what it was. I guess this means it could be any time in the next 2 wks right? I am 39 wks 2 days.
I was so excited that my body is doing something and giving me some kind of sign. I just had to share.

Oh, yeah, that's it--gross but fascinating, eh?

GOOD LUCK, MAMA! This is great news :

Wow, sounds like that was it! Good luck and keep us posted! You are going to meet your babe soon :

could be a lot quicker than 2 weeks! I lost mine when my water broke about an hour after I went into active labor so I guess it wouldn't be abnormal for things to get going much sooner than you expect!!

I thought it was pretty gross myself. I was lucky enough to feel the need to pee right before my water broke and actually ended up having my water break and loosing my mucus plug in the toilet. No mess! Mine was quite bloody however.... a lot of blood actually.... I wish someone had told me there could potentially be A LOT of blood when you're water breaks. Good thing it didn't happen in Wal Mart like I figured it would .

theboysmama, I was going to come post the exact same thing! It happened to me earlier today and looked just like you describe, and I was pretty sure it was my mucus plug, but there was no "bloody show," so I'm not sure that labor is imminent. My doula keeps reminding me that mucus plugs can regenerate.

But at least this means that something is happening! My cervix has been 50% effaced for a week with no dilation, so I'm glad to see some kind of progress. I'm at exactly 38 weeks.

Hey, I wonder which of us will go first?

Good luck hun! Hopefully something will be happening real soon!

Sounds like maybe it was an outer piece only. The mucous plug is usually bigger than a big loogie, and it generally has at least traces of blood. Think of something more like the size of a golf ball. But often it drops out in big pieces and not all at once so it sounds like you are starting to lose it. Probably with your others it just came out in labor so you didn't notice it.

Not quite the size of a golf ball but a really big loogie. Like when you hack it up from your chest. I have had several more chunks come out today. My midwife sais it could be a while since there wasn't any bloody show but you never know. I just thought it was cool to have something different happen.

Definitely cool! At least you know things are progressing. I've very excited for you.

I'm having just normal discharge but instead of being whitish, it's pinkish, so I'm hoping that's bloody show. Because I'm bloody ready to have this baby! (I'm 40+3.)

Hope this happens soon for you!

Ohhh, this also happened to me this morning! I'm 39w 2d and *eww* but when I went to the bathroom first thing this morning and wiped there was a huge snot like thing. No blood either. Is it just random mucus or could it be part of my plug?? Don't want to steal your thread, boysmama, I'm just curious too!!

smerkin - I don't know about you but there is no way mine could have just been random mucus. It was a giant snotty blob all connected not just gooey like cm.

If its boogerlike its probably part of your plug, but it can come out all at once (in which case you wouldn't doubt it was it...cause well, eeew) or more often it comes out in pieces. Unless it all comes out at once you won't always see blood, because the blood part is usually just where it connects at the top kind of.

Many people don't lose it before hand though and it just comes out when your water breaks during labor or during contractions so you don't notice. Still its kind of exciting. One thing that's nice about late pregnancy is that you get to be excited by yucky snot.

You lucky dog. I wanted to get to see my mucus plug...but nooo, I lost it at some point in time where I didn't even notice. I did get some mucus-y sort of discharge a couple days before I went into labor, though. I'll have to settle for that, I guess. :

A first for me...

Ok so I'm losing my mucous plug I guess. : This is baby #4, but I too, have never noticed it before. Since I'm due tomorrow, this is a nice sign of progress. No blood or anything but there's definitely more to come - GROSS! lol. I told DH about it and he's all curious about it, lol.

Did anyone get any sharp cervical pains during this time? Quick little jabs (I have a few contractions, but I've had those everyday for the last oh..3 mos). Maybe he'll surprise me and it'll be tonite - the one night I didn't want him to come of course, but oh well. I'll just be happy he's here now!

This is my first boy, and I tell you EVERYTHING is different!! My girls loved me, lol. I never had any of these problems.
