Acadiana Area Moms; allergy question

I am feeling horrible with allergy season, esp. the burning of the sugar cane fields. Nothing I'm doing is working to relieve any of it, even good old salt water. Any suggestions? I haven't seen a naturopath yet, but have a phone number. I am on Lordane (like benadryl) at night and a cough suppressant so I can sleep, but I am nursing and don't want to take these any more than I have to. But, I must admit that I want to take my son's asthma medication to see if that works too....pulmicort and xopenex...sigh....HELP!

I'm in Louisiana, too, and I think that there's something viral going on as well as the allergies that we all have. Two of my little ones are down with something that I thought at first was just allergies, but I realized about halfway through that it must be something more. I think that this is one of those things that you just need to live through--as miserable as that is to do.

I'm sick with a sinus infection and I don't have allergies, so I agree there's something going around.
Have you tried raw honey? You can get it free from bernards in Cecelia if you bring your own jars. Just eat a tsp each morning and it will help to innoculate you against the nasty allgerens in the air.

Another cajun girl here....we are dying this year. Nothing has worked for any of us. My youngest was hospitalized last week for RSV and pneumonia( with an RN mama). Everyone is complaining how it is just lingering and lingering...even the ENT doctors. It is a wicked virus. I hope we all get some relief soon. Happy New Years my cajun friends.

WHAT??? FREE??? OMG!!! I buy their honey but had no clue...bring sterile jars? What size? What do you do? Certain hours? I am soooo excited to bump into local folks. I know I have a bunch of stuff that I can learn from y'all. Thanks.

Who do you know over there, Nadine? I went to school (yes, I'm over 100 years old ) with the guy who runs it now. I didn't know he had raw honey.

Hey Jenny! The honey suggestion is a great one. I hope you get to feeling better.

Are you eating dairy?

Hey guys! Hi Babes

I have honey but of course it isn't local. Plus, I didn't start it soon enough. I am on the tail end of the mystery illness but it is still here nevertheless. And now my asthmatic son has it I have stayed away from dairy, but mostly for my nursling. But it seems to have worked to keep the mucus down.

Now I am afraid for my 2.5 year old, the asthmatic. I have even tried to give him breastmilk in 80,000 different ways and he won't take it I just know it could help but it is really sad. Funny how you nurse them for 1.5 years and then they gag at the taste of it later God how I wish I would have nursed through my pregnancy. I mourn it every day. Seriously.
