I was reading this on Daily Blog Tips and wondered if anyone would like to flesh out their goals together here on MDC.

1. Write at least twice a week
2. Get re-motivated and finish my story "Tale of Two Couples" (shameless plug)
3. Add Adsense
4. Apply to BlogHer

Sure!

My blog goals are:
- get a better template/background. Something more visually appealing.
- Get more readers!
- Figure out how to put a couple ads up
- Write good, entertaining, useful stuff.

Publish a cookbook based on my blog.
Venture into podcasting.

I've been thinking about my goals.

1. Get a new template. I may have to suck it up and pay someone.
2. Get a domain name, and link my blog and my business site.
3. Figure out what I want to do with it the blog.
4. Sign up on Feedburner.
5. Up my readership.
6. Start a new blog that documents my fitness journey and book reviews. It's hard to describe. I just joined a gym and see myself reading/listening to tons of books, and I thought it would be a fun blog idea. Maybe not though, LOL!

My blog is brand new and I have no idea what to expect with it. But, my one goal is to post everyday.

I'm very conflicted about my blogs. On one hand I'd love to up the readership and build a real community around them. So there's that. On the other hand, if I upped it that far, I could make some money doing what I love, so that would be nice. On the other hand (I am channeling Vishnu here), I am conflicted in how I feel about being paid to blog when I feel so strongly about some issues - I've seen how advertising can affect even a publication as strongly opinionated as Mothering.

So I'm not sure. I'll have to think on that...

Can you put ads on the blog that you are less emotionally invested in? Or, if you are emotionally invested in both of them, create a third, more benign blog that you don't have that feeling about? I wouldn't have that issue with my blog - it's just about decluttering, nothing that I would feel compromised on and I can't see how advertising would affect what I write and if it did (i.e. if I had to promote a particular brand of storage containers or something), it wouldn't get me on an emotional level. But, it's still fun for me to write.

ETA - I love the farm blog! The pictures of the sheep especially.

My Goals-

1. Revamp
2. Add content that is appealing (what might that be?)
3. Add a section for reviews
4. Find password/reset so I can log onto my blog
5. ?

Great thread.

While I'm not overly worried about having lots of readers, I'd like to see my blog become more useful to people. Practically speaking and also in terms of encouraging people to think about things in different ways.

I'd like to finish my new banner, move my blog to Typepad and increase my subscribers. On the writing side I'd like to focus the content and get into the habit of posting 4-5 times a day. I'd also like to remember to submit to the blog carnivals I always mean to.

It's an algorithm that measures the importance of a website relative to others. It's a 10 point scale with 0 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. MDC, for example, is a 4 but Google is a 10 and Amazon is a 9. It's largely based on links from other sites and their relative values as well as other factors like actual visits.

You can see a google page rank by downloading the google toolbar. Or other sites like this one: http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php will check it for you.

I want to scratch my old blogs and start over, and now seems like the right time.

My goals for my new special ed themed blog:

1. Content - Useful, helpful content.
2. Use the above to get a good readership/traffic
3. Choose a Wordpress theme. (I have webspace) Figure out colors I want to use. Create a banner.
4. Register for adsense, feedburner, technorati, amazon, etc all at once so that's done and I can decide later what I want to use.
Musing on more...

My short term goal is to write at least 10 excellent articles/posts within the month to get my blog up and going.

1. Get a new layout at some point.
2. Write more posts that provide useful information.
3. Write more "literary" posts.
4. Connect with other bloggers (have guest posts, that sort of thing)*.

*Anybody want to do a guest post on my blog?
