What can I put in a walnut?

Okay, sounds odd, I'm sure. But I read somewhere about someone cracking open walnuts and putting earrings inside and then glueing them back together with a ribbon attached to hang on the tree for a wife or daughter...cant remember the specifics but I thought - What a great idea!!! I have to do it! But what else can I put in them?

I have 2 daughters and 4 sons. I would prefer the "gift" to be relatively equal among them. I was thinking a toonie but it doesnt fit. The only coin that fits is a quarter (or anything smaller) but that doesnt feel right.

Any ideas for something small (size and gift wise)? I thought about some sort of "fortune" but have no idea where to start........
And thats where you ladies come in.

A small lucky stone or crystal?

Seeds to plant?

A clue for a scavenger hunt?

Some spices to make mulled cider? (be sure to open carefully, perhaps over a bowl)

A note. Telling them how wonderful they are, and how much you love them?
