Will people take really everything?

I have a sleeper sofa/love seat. The love seat has a couple of holes (kids) in the fabric, not in bad shape otherwise. The sleeper sofa has worn bottom cushions, but the mattress inside the sleeper is like new (I actually paid $100 for an extra thick upgraded mattress).

Wondering if I should freecycle that?

Go for it! If no one wants it after two posts, then think about another method of getting rid of it!

A friend of ours is a freecycle skeptic and is always coming up with some junk for us to post for him. He says the same thing every time "who would want that, it'll never go". Dh has won many a lunch from him because the item always goes within 30 minutes.

We've dumped a lot of scrap concrete from his concrete countertop biz including a custom poured countertop (with sink cut out) which would only fit the kitchen it was made for. Broken computers, scrap metal, rotton old wood...

I've even see a concrete curb up for grabs.

It's pretty crazy!

Both of the wanted postings were okay, but they are reaching a little bit in this economy.
We just gave away a bunch of broken computers to a freecycler who collects them, fixes them and freecycles them back as working computers. He enjoys doing fixing them and doesn't mind giving them out so people don't have to buy new. Also know of someone that requested and received a vehicle.

We gave away a barely used portable dishwasher. It was too small for our needs and we bought a full sized one. I can't be bothered to try and get cash for this stuff, it's quicker to give it away.

It never hurts to ask.

I saw this posted tonight and immediatly thought of this thread.

I have a dead moose free for the taking.

It died yesterday, apparently of natural causes. I called Fish & Game to come and get it. Apparently, moose are a natural resource and belong to everybody, until they die, then they belong to whoevers property they die on. So, according to Fish & Game, the moose now belongs to me. Sweet!!

So, if you want a free moose, please come and get it before the bears do.

You could use it for dog food, or stuff it and put it your front yard, bear bait, whatever. If you live in the lower 48, this might be your best opportunity to get a free Alaska moose. I dont really care, I just want it out of my yard.

Please reply via email, I dont need all the animal rights folks calling me, its dead, and according to Fish & Game, its got no more rights...

ok, now i think people are just messing with my local freecycle:

Autographed copy of the Bible - $1,000,000,000 OBO

Date: 2009-02-26, 9:39PM EST

I have a near-mint copy of the Bible, signed by the Big J.C. himself. According to Amazon, this is one of the better selling books of all time. I'm guessing the Prince of Peace would be happy to hear that.

This book was entrusted to me by the Knights of Templar, they borrowed it from Our Savior sometime between 28 and 32 AD and forgot to give it back. It was one of those things where they said they'd return it in a week, but then they didn't get around to reading it right away. And you know how you always feel bad returning a book you haven't read, especially when the lender asks you what you thought of it. So in trying to avoid an awkward moment with the Alpha and Omega, they hung onto it until they had more time. Well that time turned into about 2000 years, and it got mixed in with some other books and made it into a yard sale box.

At first, the King of Kings' signature wasn't worth much, but after Our Redeemer died on the cross for your sins, apparently the value skyrocketed and then rose more gradually over the next 2000 years as more people learned of the Good Shepherd's story.

Why am I selling it? I could say that I'm interested in sharing the Word of God with someone else - become a "Fisher of Men" so to speak. But the truth is I just bought an Xbox 360 and don't have room on the bookshelf for both. I'll either use the money to fight world hunger, or buy that Rock Band game I've been hankering for.

Dead moose? Autographed bible? On the same day or the same week?

Our local Craig's list had a man looking for a partner to do time travel with him. Said his grandfather had invented the machine and it worked. He wanted to go back to a certain battle in US history dressed as a soldier (I can't remember which one) and said that he couldn't guarantee safe return.

Yes. I'm dead serious.

I do know some folks who would take that and cut it up for raw dog food. I'd just hope they wouldn't take it for human consumption, you know?

This really isn't a joke. Moose DO die in people's yards and they start to stink the place up. Generally the moose is not edible though because if they die of natural causes, the assumption is always going to be that the animal was sick from something.. now if the moose is hit by a car, then fish and game will call the "next person on the list" (and usually it is an elderly or disabled or.. something person/family- I don't recall their particular requirements) and then the meat is salvaged by that family, and butchered for consumption purposes.

I have always wondered though, what if the moose was feeling sick, got woozy, landed in the middle of the road and THEN got hit by a car.. how would they know he's sick? (this of course, coming from someone who has eaten moose and enjoyed, it, so just thinking aloud, not condemning the practice or anything..)

I found a home for all the "nasty flavors" in my Bertie Botts every flavor beans.. yep, I had vomit, rotten egg, pepper and sausage..

They found a home.. I thought they wouldn't for sure since I had opened and eaten all the good flavors..

I DID have to post it twice, but the second posting, I got MULTIPLE people wanting them.. apparently there was an HP party somewhere that week?

I was curious why only a 1/2 pack, did they not like the brand after using 1/2? quite cold turkey? And I was writing stories in my head.
Needless to say they were promised and taken pretty quickly .
Perhaps they died.

I once posted on my craigslist offering a free couch that had been markered on, my kids had tagged it w/ their names, dirty, kid stained, 12 yrs old, etc. I actually had a taker who cleaned it up and LOVED it! Dh and I delivered it while she was at work and she managed to get it into her apartment (we were having the darndest time!) I gave the matching, though untagged, loveseat to my therapist who had it cleaned and it looks great!

People will take it if they need it. I was very honest about the condition of the couch and was honestly surprised I had a taker. lol
