Helping baby Out?

What are all you wonderful soon to be mamas doing to help your babes get the idea that it's time to move out of the womb?

Or what have all you new mamas done to help get things going?

For me I've been eating spicy food like crazy, walking an hour a day and wish I was DTD.

hm, I mopped the kitchen floor but I don't think that counts. It was kind of relaxing. I bought the "come OUT, baby" supplementary mp3 from hypnobabies.com and DH finally said yesterday that he was ok with the idea of me listening to it (he's so cute, I get the feeling he thinks it's going to work instantly or at any rate by tomorrow at the latest. I can't complain that he's not on board with the whole hypnobabies concept... although at first I could have used a Granny Weatherwax type of "I aten't dead" sign. Really, I'm not asleep, don't take off my headphones.)

Right now, however, I am listening to TMBG. ::

Let's see... haven't been doing anything too aggressive yet, although I have been taking evening primrose oil, walking, and DTD daily to help my cervix along. Been drinking a bit of RRL tea and going to acupuncture appointments twice a week to help prepare. As anxious as I am to meet him, I've decided that there is not much I can do to make him come - he'll come when he's ready so I just want to make sure my body is ready. I am thinking of asking my acupuncturist to step it up a notch this week though...

cohosh, epo, dtd, walking, cleaning, pleading..........This has been a pretty stressful 9 months for me and I went to see someone to talk about stuff today and we decided I needed to get my head together before the baby feels safe and secure to come out. I'm 38 and a half weeks now so I still have time but I think sometimes one has to prepare and deal with things emotionally. That's just me though..........I'm going to do some writing and meditating and hopefully that will get things moving.

I had all these plans to but now I'm not doing anything to have baby come out because we all got this plague like cold and I don't want to have it in labor or with a newborn. So I'm hoping he'll be ok in there for a few more days at least, so we can get over it. It stinks though because I really was hoping for a before my due date baby...I've got GD so post date I know that everyone including me is going to start getting nervous, but really it would suck to bring a newborn home to this crud...what if the baby got it?

I gave up, that's what I did. If this kid is going to be stubborn and not come, then fine!

I'm keeping busy and letting baby come when he/she is ready.

I'm taking evening primrose oil (not very effective, I don't think. my cervix was more favourable *before* I started taking the stuff!). Sex seems to have hit and miss effects too - sometimes it brings on ctx within an hour, sometimes it does absolutely nothing.
I wrote my final biology exam today, and am basically finished at work. I'm hoping the end of those things will bring on the beginning of parenting a born child.
I've also been walking (big ouch - SPD) every day and sitting/bouncing on the birth ball and using some accupressure points.
This is really vain, but I had not a single stretch mark until 39 weeks and 1 day. Not a one. They are exploding from minute to minute now though. Get out, baby! I want to meet you, and a random patch of stomach skin without a raging red mark would be nice too.
I know they come when they're ready, and I don't really want to rush him out of there before he's ready, but I do wish he would be ready NOW. Cause I'm ready now.

I totally understand how you feel. I'm feeling this way now as well.

I haven't really done anything to encourage the exit yet because I'm only 38 and a half weeks. As soon as I get to 39 though I might try a few more things.

I've gotten to desperation.....I ate eggs cooked in castor oil ! Couldn't drink it so it wasn't enough to do much. I've tried everything else I can pretty much. Taking Dr. C's PN6, EPO, walking when I can (hurt pelvic bone), orgasm, enema/castor oil....Still 5 days past EDD...Still no baby.

If you are "overdue" and your cervix is ready, that castor oil might do the trick! The usual dosage (for constipation and inducing labor) is 1-4 TABLESPOONS. Well, I mixed 1 TEASPOON with orange juice on Sunday to help me, ummm, go to the bathroom. I figured at such a low dose it wouldn't cause any problems. It didn't cause any diarrhea, but a few hours after taking it, I did start contracting every 10 minutes, then 6 minutes, then 4 minutes, then every 2 minutes for several hours!! They fizzled out after awhile 'cause I wasn't quite ready yet and they did nothing to change my cervix. Needless to say, I won't be doing that again! (Unless I am quite overdue and ready for labor physically).

Ok at one week overdue I'm starting to think more about what to do to help this baby get the idea.

at 41 weeks would you take castor oil to help induce labor, i'm 80% effaced but 0 dilated as of last week. Nothing changed for me between week 36 and week 40. I have been taking EPO orally and vaginally every night. I have been walking at least 30 minutes a day and dh and I dtd this weekend.
