Lets help spread Knowledge and lessen the Ignorance

Surrounding the topic of extended breastfeeding.

I posted a video on YOUTUBE a few months ago called "breastfeeding from birth to 2 years and beyond"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRXFossvLVM

I received over 400 comments and many of them quite ignorant.
I made a response video called "ignorance meets knowledge"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdEN8nKWA4E

It is my hope that this video spread over the internet and help to educate people about extended breastfeeding.

I (like most people) was quite ignorant on this topic even while pregnant, I said "i wouldn't breastfeed my child once he can walk and talk, that would be weird" and indeed it is weird in a place where it "seems" that no one does.

I encourage all breastfeeding mothers to be proud of their toddler nurslings and help hit the ignorance right where it hurts.

please rate and comment on my video, and send it to people.

Thanks!

Welcome to MDC!
I actually came across your "breastfeeding from birth to 2 years and beyond" video quite some time ago (I think I commented once or twice) and it very quickly became one of my most favorite breastfeeding videos (am I weird for watching them? ) on youtube. *I* was pretty disgusted at some of the ignorant comments you received, so I can only imagine how they made you feel.

With that said, I LOVE your new one!!!!!!!! So very well done!

Wonderful video!!!!

I really like the video--sweet!

I am disturbed by some of the video links that pop up on the side--things that are NOT the best advertisement for extended breastfeeding. I wish there was a way to control that.

Me too! My DD and I watch your birth to 2 years one every so often and it never fails to make me cry. I also love your Montessori in the home ones.

You did a wonderful job! Thanks for getting the message out there.

I said the same thing. First I said I'd quit when he got teeth (I only got deliberately bit once or twice in 2.5 years), then I said we'd stop when he could ask for it and lift my shirt up. He's been doing that for over a year now

Great videos! I also love the gentle patting at the end of the first one. How sweet and loving.

Willowtree, there's a few (probably more than a few...) lactivism-related groups on Facebook you could post it on.

In under a week the video has over 2,500 hits.
My friend that helped me create the video recently got an e mail from a friend of his saying that she received this video in an e mail from someone that neither me or anyone i directly sent the link to knows.
this is wonderful news! it's really getting around.

I've gotten a comment recently asking me to check my sources about the breastfeeding laws in Australia. It was really hard to find good information about international breastfeeding laws. I will be fixing that soon.
