How to add mailing list to blog?

Just wondering if anyone knows how to add an (email) mailing list to a blog? I know how to insert HTML snippets into a blog, but the question is what "email list provider" would be best ... if we want to collect email addy and do a monthly emailing. Preferably a free way

I like phpList. It's a free open source program that you install on your website and you can send out custom emails.

It creates a sign-up page for your website so you can just add the link to the sign-up page on your blog.

Most of my clients (and myself) use DadaMail, I also recommend Constant Contact but it's $15/month.

I highly recommend http://www.graphicmail.com It is comparable to Constant Contact but less expensive. To use it, you will just insert code for a sign up box and then go to http://www.graphicmail.com and choose a template (or create your own) and insert your newsletter info.

I could go on for days about how great http://www.graphicmail.com is...but I'll spare you

You can also use http://www.Feedburner.com to create a summary of your recent posts via RSS. It will provide you with code for sign up, but you dont ever have to create a newsletter (feedburner pulls your content and creates a summary version for your newsletter)
