This is so interesting. When DD1 was an infant, I was told "no honey before 6m" and my thought was "well, I'm not giving her anything but breastmilk and maybe a few sips of water before 6mo anyway!"
Then when DS was an infant, I was told "no honey before 12mo". I really wondered how many babies got sick who were between 6 and 12mo and were breastfed and generally healthy- or if they extended the age range because of one or two formula-fed, vaccinated, antibiotic-given older infants got sick.
And now they're saying no honey before age 2? Jeepers. When my oldest was a baby, it was pretty much "by a year old they can eat anything" but if you're introducing foods slowly and individually you might not have gotten to a full range of foods before 18m or so.
