I thought it was written by dr. seuss, but I can't find it credited to him anywhere.
It's about a boy who gets a fish and he is told to feed him only a little, not a lot. But the boy feeds him too much and the fish grows and grows until he ends up in the basement and then the police come and the fire fighters and they take the fish to the local swimming pool. And then, the man who sold the boy the fish comes and dives into the pool and does something to the fish and when he comes out of the pool, the fish is small and back in the fish bowl?
It was one of our favorite books when we lived in NY and I have no hope of ever getting those books back and I *know* DD would love it too, so I'd like to buy it for her. But, I just can't remember the darn name of it and my searches are coming up empty.
