My partner wants to switch to a straight razor, so I thought I'd get him the supplies to start this. I'm *so* overwhelmed that I still haven't gotten it! Any recommendations on what to get to start out with? We're vegan. I also would like to keep the cost down, since we're not sure he'll like it and we can always get something better if he decides this is what he wants to do in the long run. Help?

If he's just trying it out to see if he'll like it, they make "disposable" straight razors... like this one http://www.classicshaving.com/catalo...940/286100.htm. Might be worth a try, and it'll definitely keep down the price for the beginning (in case he decides against it?) i know it kind of defeats the purpose of a straight razor's greenness, but just a thought.

Is he thinking he wants to switch to a razor alone, or would he like to use a razor and say, shaving soap and oil? Really, the soap and oil are a huge component of what makes a straight razor shave so close, so he might want to go with those too.

I'd also like to get my Mr. a straight razor, with a shaving brush to lather things up. We're vegan too, so nothing made of animal hair. Any ideas?
