Double cp vax?

I was talking to a mom about the cp vax. She was saying that now there is this double cp vax or you get two so then you never have to get a booster in 10 yrs or so, because it's good for life. Some how that does not sound right. Is there any info on this? Also she got the cp because she believes it will prevent shingles later on. I'm trying to find a good link or two that either is correct with what she is saying or if not correct with what she is saying. If she is incorrect, I'd just like to point her in the right direction, so she's not telling people the wrong thing, and if I'm wrong, I just want to know. Thanks.
So to clarify-is there a double cp vax so you don't ever have to get a booster and does the vax prevent 100% getting shingles?

I'm not sure about the double cp vax. Could be. Sooner or later they will have to give a second and third dose because immunity only last so long.

Maybe she meant the new Shingles vaccine they are working on. I don't know whether it's on the market or not.

Shingles used to be a disease of old people but since they give the cp vaccines, it is seen in younger and younger kids. Thus the shingles vaccines.

I came back to post a link -

http://insidevaccines.com/wordpress/...ork/varicella/

Here it is then:
Quote:
Mass varicella vaccination is expected to cause a major epidemic of herpes-zoster, affecting more than 50% of those aged 10–44 years at the introduction of vaccination.
Herpes-zoster is shingles.

I'm going to ask her again. She was just saying that her daughter wouldn't have to get the booster now because of this "new" cp vax. Just didn't make sense, because it would have to wear off eventually.
So I haven't read much about this vax at all, I had cp as a kid. Are they finding out now that kids who got the vax, what 10-15yr ago are now getting shingles?

I think the cp vax preventing shingles is pretty widely believed. It's not true of course. DH and I were strongly considering the cp vax for dd just because we thought it prevented shingles. When we started digging though, we found that that is not the case as the vaccine introduces the virus into the body thus alowing the chance of shingles to develop. Mainstream vax information is pretty silent on the whole shingles front. But parents know that you can't get shingles if you don't get cp so they make the assumption that the vax protects from both.
