One really good reason for doing this is to make sure they are clean, organized, and ready to grab and go if things start getting hectic, not still in the laundry, or used accidentally. Baking might be a bit much, but washing, rinsing and a run through the dryer, then bag and label and put on a shelf until you need them.
It's like the "trauma bag" we use for ski patrol: everything we need is in one (large) bag, ready to grab and haul to the site of the accident.
