So I was buying a few new nursing bras...

And the lady asked if I had had the "bambino" yet (is she trying to tell me something?)
I said "Oh no! He's 2"
I wish I had looked at her face because my friend said it was hysterical. I didn't even think about what kind of reaction I'd get until after I said it.
Just spreading a little normalization :-D

This gave me a great chuckle.

That gave me a good laugh. Thanks. We really should go around with cameras for these JIC moments.

I had the same thing when I went to get measured for new nursing bras as I have changed size and the assistant asked me if I was pregnant or had a baby and it was funny to see her face when I said "yes i've got one right here" (my 2 yr old was peering over my shoulder in our ergo).

I still haven't managed to actually find any nursing bras in my size though now that I'm pretty much back to pre-baby size (small lol). Does anyone else have this problem? Am I destined to go braless now I'm a nursing mother with small breasts?

What a cute story! I know I used to get looks taking DD into Motherhood for nursingwear when she wasn't exactly a baby anymore. No one said anything, though.

I've gotten the same look in Motherhood when I went in to find a nursing nightgown that would fit over my pregnant belly.

"Oh, but you won't need one that big after you have your baby!"

"No, but I need one for nursing at night now."

I found that a pull-over bra with thin straps worked well for my aerodynamic self. Something like a jog bra, but lighter fabric and thinner straps. I could just pull the front down to nurse and it was very comfy.

I have smaller breasts and haven't used a nursing bra for a long time. I just wear a soft-cup bra (or shelf bra) and pull it down to nurse. My favorite bra is Jane's bra (or something like that) from blue canoe organics. It's so comfy and great for nursing.

I just wanted to say-- nursing tanks are the greatest inventions EVER! I totally stopped wearing nursing bras at all and just opted for the tank (I'm like a C cup though, larger women might need more support!)

I am about a small C now, and I use the nursing tanks from Target. I have like 20 of them. LOL They cover up your tummy if you have to lift your shirt up, and also help with those shirts that ride up. They are cheap too!

What a great story. I've had similar reactions buying prenatal vites - the clerks like to ask if I'm pregnant & I tell them "No, we're nursing". and they look around for the baby & see an 18++ month old. (one said in a shocked voice, "But doesn't he have TEETH???)

I agree with the pp's on nursing bras for petite mamas - soft cup bras or nursing tanks do the job. I didn't even buy any nursing bras this time.

Oh, I used to have this issue too. Like, you're nursing AND you're pregnant? Does. not. compute...

Haha, that great.

I had a similar experience at Motherhood once. I was looking at nursing bras and had my dd with me- she was only around one year or so at the time. The sales lady came over to help me. She asked me my bra size and suggested that I get a size larger than I currently am. I was really confused for a minute before I realized she thought I was pregnant and buying nursing bras in preparation of a new nursing baby. I just said, "Oh, I think this size will be fine for now".

Such an honest answer. I can only imagine her face
