I think it's great that one person's reaction to watching a circumcision video is sparking another person to want to learn more about it. mrsfrenchy, I commend you for stepping forward and asking for more information. This is not a decision that should be made with one's eyes closed!
Someone posted earlier this week with a new video called "Circumcision Decision" that was just fabulous. I won't lie and say it is a balanced "let's look at both sides" approach -- it is definitely biased toward not circumcising (how could it not be!?!) but it is so informative and eye-opening. It's a wonderful video that every soon-to-be parent of a boy should be required to watch. Here it is:

I am the proud mother of two intact boys, and I received a lot of grief from my husband's family, who had circ'd all four of their boys. My parents only had girls, but I'm sure they would have circ'd boys if they had any, and my sister has two circ'd sons, so I have received no support from them, either. My mother-in-law and father-in-law were downright rude, saying terrible things to us in the hospital when our answer to their "When is his 'little procedure'?" question was "Never!" Argh, it still makes me angry to think about.
On the plus side (other than my sons being happily intact, of course), my mother-in-law recently conceded that she didn't understand that much about the function of the foreskin, and that she understands now that it was the way boys are made, so there must be some reason for it. She wasn't given any option when her boys were born

, so they were just circumcised as part of the routine procedure that was followed when boys were born. I think her recent change of heart might of had something to do with me *accidentally* leaving the book
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Circumcision
out in plain sight while she was over babysitting a sleeping baby with nothing else to read.
