Well there's this I found on the net about Harry's age: in Chamber of Secrets Harry helped celebrate Nearly Headless Nick's deathday anniversary on October 31, 1992. Harry was 12 at that time. So this would mean that Harry was born in 1980.

And apparently I'm wrong about George, he's 31 y.o. According to the HP Lexicon Fred and George were born in 1978.

In interviews JKR provided lots of back ground information about her characters that sometimes clarified things, sometimes mucked them up, sometimes opened up heretofore unconsidered cans of worms. She probably mentioned the twins' birth year in some interview.

i didn't remember them telling about the year. i did remember Harry's birthday as July 31, though; that's my step-dd's birthday!
