We just got home from the hospital. I'll post the longer story later, but for now here are the highlights.
On Tuesday, I went in for my regular NST, and my OB was concerned by what she saw. Another NST and biophysical profile over at the hospital followed, then an amnio was scheduled for the next day to make sure the baby's lungs were developed enough for an induction. I was at 38 weeks, and after the amnio my OB saw I was 3cm dialated, 80-90% effaced and decided we could do an induction the next morning.
When I went to bed Wednesday night, I felt some small contractions. At 3:45am, a stronger contraction woke me up. I showered and dressed and got ready to the hospital. By the time we arrived at 4:45, the contractions were pretty strong. I told the nurses in L&D that I didn't think I'd need that pitocin after all.
Our doula arrived about 15 minutes later, and by that time I was moaning through contractions. The nurses had called my OB and told her to get on over to the hospital. Just before 7am, I started pushing and Peter Sidney came out in 3 pushes.
He was 7lbs, 15oz, 21 1/4". He is adorable and nursing like a pro. I feel great, and it's good to be home.
