I miss celebrating Yule/Solstice

I was raised Wiccan, and I've been away from home for the holidays for four years now. I miss celebrating Yule with my mom and her friends. I miss the little bonfire we'd have. I tried to get my friends here to do something, but nobody was all that interested. I'm just kind of bummin' - everyone talks about being home for the holidays, and I always thought it was a really cheesy idea but I wish I could be right now (save for the fact that my mother and I don't speak). And I know my mom hardly does anything anymore now that my youngest sister is 15. But it's still saddening. I want those Southern California days back on the beach for the holidays.

What is everyone doing for Yule? Anything fun?

I'm so sorry for you sweetie. We had a small Yule gathering here with our local Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans group and toasted the ancestors and Gods.

it sucks to be away from family. For future if you have a local UU church they are VERY VERY pagan friendly and usually have a CUUPS chapter there - may be a way for you to do Yule and other seasonal rites with Pagans that are friendly.
