okay, so in my last thread I said I wanted them...and I still do. I'm just worried that when I get them backcombed that my hair will be super short. I really dont want that. my hair is between 11-13 inches long right now. Is that a good length to start dreads? I really just hate the way my hair is now and have always wanted dreads, but my hair has always been waaayyyy too short. So, what do you all think?Join Now

that is plenty of hair to start dreads and have them still not look to short. you loose maybe 2-3 inches maybe.

I think it depends on what kind of hair you have. My hair is very fine and straight, but I have a ton of it. It shrunk A LOT. I should mention I didn't exactly back comb it, I let it go naturally with the help of a shampoo that made my hair very knotty. So it might shrink less if you back comb it??

I lost too much length with the back comb method. I also hated how those dreads matured. I prefer twist and rip. You don't loose as much length.
