Does anyone else here have rosacea? I do. Its HORRIBLE. I have the reddest face!! Someone while I was walking through my local Whole Foods told me about a product that is called rosacea ltd. 3 I bought it and it seemed to work at first, but then started to burn my face (like everyone rosacea product). I just stopped. What the heck should I use? I am so sick of looking "ugly" I try to tell myself to hell with anyone who makes stupid comments about my face, but its hard to just ignore the fact that I look like a red skittle . I just want to look normal again. It got so bad in the past year. UGH!! Any advice would be awesome. Thanks.

I have terrible rosacea. I think I have tried just about every natural treatment there iswithout success, and about 18 months ago I found a non-natural treatment that was like a miracle for me.

I can post info and before and after pics if you are interested, but I'm not sure if I should because this is the natural body care forum, after all.

Have you tried organic coconut oil?

I don't actually have rosacea but my face was very red with burst blood vessels in places. Since I switched to Aveno poducts thats calmed down a lot (2 weeks). To hide the remaining redness I have Boots No7 Colour Calming Make up base (now sold in Target) which is a very green coloured cream which really tones down the redness.

One of my best friends has rosacea. She uses Jurlique skin care products and Mambino Organics omega-3 face oil. Her skin is really beautiful, and I can't believe she ever had problems with rosacea.

Do you know what your triggers are? In my family, triggers include (some people only have one trigger, some have more):
sunlight
stress
tea
tannins
red wine
caffeine
chocolate

I'm sure others have different triggers, but identifying your own triggers may help.

I have mild rosacea and the only thing that worked to get rid of mine was to just stop washing my face with anything, and switch to inert mineral make up. All I use on my face is water and I've had FAR fewer breakouts since. I'm a big fan of Everyday Minerals, and they even have a concealer designed to cover rosacea.

I spent a TON of time and money going to the naturopath/homeopath/MD and finally have it under control now There are four main things that keep my skin clear and prevent the redness/irritation:

Avoid triggers - like pp mentioned learn to recognize your triggers and avoid them entirely until you are no longer flaring up. Mine are stress, caffeine, wine and getting overheated. Now that my skin has calmed down, I can indulge once and awhile without risking a flare up.

Take supplements
-I take omega 3's and echinacea root as per the naturopath and both seem to help with the inflammation when taken regularly. Really helped.

Avoid fragrances/irritants -I avoid all soaps, lotions etc on my skin. I use water to wash (occasionally honey) and only wear mineral make up to avoid irritation to the skin when its all ready sensitized.

Metrogel/Rowan Naturals -for the first couple months I did land up using the prescription cream Metrogel until my flare-ups were under control. It’s not natural, but very effective. I use the natural topical product by Rowan naturals from the hf store now as a maintenance lotion and its great.

Good luck mama...hope you find something that works for you

I use raw honey to wash my face, unrefined coconut oil and rosehip seed oil to moisturize, and take an Omega 3-6-9 supplement every day, and I haven't had a flare-up in a year! (I started out using TTO on flare-ups -- I'm not sure if that helped or not, but it may have started the healing process so I thought I'd mention that too.)

Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you. (FWIW, the only thing that ever helped me before was antibiotics, and I needed to do a full course almost once a year to keep things even remotely calm...)

I second the motion for you to post these

OP, I have rosacea and it keeps getting worse. I am not really sure what my triggers are. I was going to have Intense Pulsed Light treatment, but I no longer can afford it.

I found a video on Youtube (which I did not save for some reason) from a doctor who said he believed the cause had something to do with the skin not being very healthy, not able to make collagen and other stuff it needs. I can't remember exactly but I'll try to find the video again because it's interesting.

I am not sure what to do but I keep getting redder and redder and have visible red blood vessels on my cheeks. I don't wear makeup, I just want to be less red. KWIM? I tried something called Klaron and it helped *some*. And I tried Metrogel and it hasn't helped yet. I'd prefer some natural remedies though.
