"Reality based education"

I went to the clinic today because I wanted to get a blood test (ttc) and the OB nurse goes into telling me about getting her kids shots and how they didn't want them and were screaming and she had to "hold them down". She decided "I don't feel like traumatizing them today so I took them home and figured I could traumatize them tomorrow". She goes on to tell me how she googled pictures of chicken pox "I was purposely trying to find the worst pictures I could.... I found one that looked like a finger with a finger nail but it was a uhhh" (yea, it was a picture of a boy) "So I showed it to the boys. They're eyes got all wide and looked up at me and said 'Can we go to the clinic tomorrow and get our shots?' Thats what I call reality based education"

It took everything in my power not to throw up or go off on her. I feel so sorry for her children that they have to be subjected to FEAR based MANIPULATION. I have half a mind (once I have what I need from her...waiting for my bfp so I can get a referral) to tell her exactly what I think about her "education" but I know it wouldn't do a bit of good.

I guess confession is good for the soul. Why would anyone want to admit to such a thing? "Yea, I scared my kid good!"

She scared them over BIG BAD CHICKEN POX? Seems like she could have chosen a scarier disease... why not leprocy? I mean, chicken pox is really just not scary - even the "bad" pox. Leprocy is MUCH scarier... or siphilis, for that matter... or... or...

oh, yeah, it's because we have a vaccine for the darn chicken pox instead.

Wow, nice parenting. Does she show them pictures of compound fractures before they go out on their bikes?
