I just got my diva cup and my period. It looked huge (Model 2) but that's a whole other issue - I have had 4 kids. Anyway, I put it in and it feels fine but in reading through the threads, I didn't feel suction. I'm not sure that I twisted all the way around. Any advice from the experience Diva's?

I don't spin mine like they say to do. If I were you I'd just wear it for a while with a backup pantyliner and see if it leaks. If it doesn't then you must have put it in just fine.
I thought mine was huge too, but actually didn't have problems inserting it. Removing was a bit of a challenge for me though.

More Questions
I thought the insertion was just too easy so I assumed I'd have some kind of removal nightmare but not so. I'm getting suspicious. All the diva cup posts led me to believe it would be a difficult start up. Perhaps I shouldn't get too confident after one use!2 Questions:
1. What do you do in a public bathroom? I would feel funny coming out and washing my diva cup in the sink! Should I buy a back up cup?
2. On a heavy day, will it overflow and if it does, does it leak out or back up?

I've never had mine overfill.
In a public bathroom, I just dump it and wipe it with toilet paper. I rarely have to change it in public. It holds a lot. I love not carrying around pads
But for the first few months I wore a backup when out of the house.

I had no startup problems at all, and I've really never had any problems. I twist it a little once inserted to adjuste it, but I don't feel it at all when it's in, nothing, I can forget I have it there.
It can overflow and leak if it gets to full, so on a heavy day you empty it once more than usual or so. I never have heavy days, so I just empty it morning and night, always.
In a public bathroom, if there's no sink you can actually just empty it and dry it out with some paper and put it in, as long as it is a one time happening that day. But I carry a little water bottle in my purse, and use that to clean it out in case of a "emergency" emptying in a public bathroom (but it's happend once or twice over all the years I've used it since I only empty morning/night).
I always have antibac in my purse too, so I wipe my hands with that after cleaning it of with the water from the bottle and inserting it. Then I can go out and wash my hands.

I've had mine overflow a couple of times when I was bleeding really heavily, and it just flowed out onto the pad. I don't think it could backup.
Changing it in public: I generally feel comfortable leaving it in for 4-6 hours easy, and it's rare that we're gone longer than that. Then I just wrap it in toilet paper and take it home if it's a multiple-stall bathroom. I've lucked out and gotten single-seater bathrooms where I can wash it out pretty often though.

I've never had an overflow/leak with mine either, but I do wear a pantyliner with it for my own peace of mind.
Changing it in public is not exactly a pleasant exercise, and in my experience it's better if you can avoid it and wait until you get home. Like a PP said, though, it can simply be emptied, wiped out with tp and re-inserted while you're in the stall, then you can go out and wash your hands. Not fun, but it works.

I have never had an overflow with mine. I also try to avoid changing it in public bathrooms; it holds a gigantic ammount and usually after the first day I only have to change it once a day. I do love mine-I sometimes feel like doing a commercial

1. In a public restroom, I just take it out, empty it, wipe it clean with toilet tissue and resinert. I do make sure that the door is locked well and my kids are with my DH so I don't have "company" in the stall..
It wasn't pleasant and I found it stressful, but it could not be avoided.. it was full and leaking and I needed to empty it. I had to do it 4 times while we were out..

2. On my heavy days, it does overflow and leak onto a pad. I wear a back up pad when I use it. On my heavy days I can fill it in 2 hours..
