book about playing with kids?

I have seen recommendations all over the place for a book about play, and now can't seem to drudge up the name. Can anyone here help me find it?

It is authored by a man (very helpful, I know : ), and is for adults. The premise is that play is a necessary social tool for learning, and the book gives recommendations for types of play and guidelines for good/safe play. I think it deals with the controversies over roughhousing and tickling, and that sort of thing, but I'm not sure.

I'm sorry that's so general. It is a very popular book, though, so I am hopeful someone will know what I'm talking about. pretty, pretty please?

by David Cohen ???

Also try anything by David Elkind, although if I remember correctly he's more about researching what we are currently not doing right and why it's not right.

Thanks for the ideas. I checked out both Cohen and Elkind, but their work is more analytical/academic than the book I'm looking for. The author I'm thinking of gives workshops where he actually gets on the floor with the kids and parents and talks about the nuts and bolts of physical play with your children.

Cohen looks really interesting, though! I love this forum. I always find something to add to my "must read" list.
