same here. I could still see an LC behind the peds back if I had trouble.

Yes to all of this. And don't forget all the mis-diagnoses of infections which are really just normal separation and/or smegma discharge.

Take care,

My opinion exactly. Although I already try to stay away from my children's pediatrician as much as possible.

If a dr can't understand something as simple as breastfeeding, then s/he is not knowledgeable enough to be a caregiver for our family. Ditto the intact penis. It's just basic anatomy... I have no sympathy for anyone who goes through med school and an internship and a specialization and can't grasp the concept. (Or, more likely, can't be bothered to care about it.) I don't think that a person who has managed to miss out on, dismiss, ignore, or not understand all the information available to him/her is really qualified to be our dr.

I'd rather be without a dr than see one I don't trust and respect... and in fact, haven't seen a ped since my almost 6 yo was 6 weeks old.

I'd get a general practitioner who is pro both. Unless your child has a chronic condition or something like that, I don't think a ped is needed.

I would definitely go with pro-breastfeeding, if not, you are likely to be dealing with multiple attempts to get you to formula feed or feed the baby food early and every visit will be an evaluation of whether or not your boobs are doing their job. Much more of a hassle than simply keeping the diaper on.

I couldn't imagine taking my son to a doctor that I did not trust enough to examine him without part of his body covered up to protect it from harm or that I was unable to get medical advice from for his entire diaper area.
