Happy New Year PDX!!! - Page 6

We had a fun day. Tempe is a cute town. We are supposed to go out sans kids, but truth be told, I'm kind of tired. The 2 beers at lunch really wiped me out. It's so hard to be away from Portland, where we have good beer. Most of the places here have shit beer. It's really a problem. It's hard to feel like it's worth it to go out when you're paying $4 for a "premium lager."

Might not be a permanent thing yet. Jake has done this a couple times for a week, then gone back to daily napping. He's still doing the daily napping thing

So the yogurt with my new yogurt maker? Didn't firm up at all. Tasted nice, though. Oh well, I am using this failed batch for smoothies, and that is just fine. Hope the next batch is better. Am thinking about experimenting with a combination of coconut milk and hemp milk. Anyone have any experience?

And Korin? The prius? Just needs a new anicillary battery, not too bad. Except they are back-ordered so we can't get one for our car for 3-5 days. Gah. Well, he said I could drive the car, I'd just have to jump-start it each time no, thanks!

sounds like our house
a friend once told me her child gave up naps by going to a up-at-8 bed-at-5 routine for a while,,, but how long is the while?>

i guess at least the bedtime has stopped being worse instead of better for the lack of nap.

we had lots of temp 'strikes' as well, but i think this is it.

I have tried that a few times. When he fell asleep at 6, I put him to bed.. and when he woke up at 9 I tried to nurse him back to sleep like it was midnight.. Nope didn't work.. he was out of bed and up til 1am.

Levi's dad never acknowledges my kids. Every. He has never so much as sent them a card saying Hi! Thinking of you! He never visted when we lived a few miles away, and even though he asked Levi for pictures a few months ago he never acknowledged that I sent them.

Today Breanna found a picture of DH's family taken in 1980. When I told her that was her other grandpa she asked me if he was dead. I passed this info onto DH's sister. Maybe she will say something. DH doesn't care.. and it's not really my place. But does the man really want his grandkids to think he is dead?

Ruby did that too for a while. Ugh. it's miserable. We were to a point where she was tired, but fighting naps, and then would finally nap but then bedtime was miserable and long. So, we ditched naps. there was a couple of weeks figuring it out, and now she's down by about 8 and up by 7... mostly. But if she naps at all? oy. she will stay up late and get up earlier. Bizarre kid. but cute.

This is Marah too. We went no nap about 9 or so months ago. She is doing bedtime routine with Daddy by 7ish and up most days between 6:30 and 8. The 8 oclock days are so nice especially when the baby sleeps in too. But any nap even 5 minutes in the car and its no bed until late, late, late. And I totally agree very cute kid your Ruby is.

Were you at least doing something fun???

Well, I bought boots. They are swell, even if they do make me look like I'm trying to be an urban yoot. (Todd said that apparently Sorel is the brand that he saw lots of urban youtt..s on the max wearing, along with the upside down visors, and fur lined hooded coats.) Awesome. Oh well. They are nice and warm, and fuzzy on the inside like slippers.

My internet connections sucks right now, so I'll just say what they are instead of trying to post a link, since NOTHING will load for me. AT ALL. Sorel Caribou winter boots.

I assume you have tried to reboot. If that failed you kicked it.

And that is why you need 3 Tivo's

Yeah, I went into the basement and reset the modem, after I turned the computer off. The stuff is now loading slowly. Nice to see some of it presented in a positive light. I haven't seen the segment on "extreme parenting" yet.

Trying to get Alex to sleep. Wish me luck.
Oh man, this vacation is getting the better of me. I am so drained. And tired. And resentful. And horrible feeling. Nico's not sleeping and I'm the only one who ever takes care of him at night. Sometimes Ryan will get up with him in the morning, but Nico flat out hates Ryan right now. Wants absolutely nothing to do with him. So even though Ryan is starting to finally try to establish some connection with him, it's almost like it's too late. He's frustrated and throwing his hands up, and saying things like "well, all he wants is you. What can I do?" It's hard on everyone, for sure. But I've already been feeling on edge the last couple of weeks, and feel ready to burst into tears at any moment. I would just like a break. I would like Nico to have another "go to" person in his life. I feel so alone on so many levels and this no sleep thing intensifies every little hurt and frustration and blah! I'm just sad.

Ha! Good point! We actually went to the Sonora Brewhouse last night and they had really good beer. So, problem solved.

Lu is doing great. Her abscess has gone down a little and she's running around and shaking her butt as we speak. She keeping calling people "mops." She'll say, "Don't say that, you mops!" : She's very bossy.
