Baby Emily was born on Dec 15 at 8 lbs, 4 oz (39.4 weeks)
I started having contractions on the way home from work. They were about 9-10 minutes apart. By the time I got home from work, about half an hour later they were 5-6 minutes apart and much stronger. I decided to call my husband and have him leave work early. He got home about half an hour after that and we headed to the hospital. Contractions were about 3 minutes apart by then. I started to get a little worried that we wouldn't make it there, especially when I started thinking about pain medication... It took us about 30 minutes to get to the hospital. I had a hard time walking in. When we finally got there, they checked me and I was already 9 cm! They scrambled to get the room ready and get the doctor there. I was a little panicked to know she would be born so quickly. Well, the doctor made it just in time and she was born about 5 minutes later. It was obviously a very natural birth, but I was grateful to have supportive nurses and a doctor in the room. I needed a little encouragement! I only needed a couple of stiches due to baby having her hand on her head when she came out. Baby is doing great and nursing very well.
