AWESOME:

I really appreciate all the ladies that started this with me...it feels encouraging that I am not alone. I do also have to organize, but feel that is the next step (for me), I need to declutter first then figure out how to organize.......

GO! GO! GO!

Another 25 items taped into a Goodwill box for DH to drop off tomorrow! (how did I end up with 6 pot lids that don't have any pots to go with them?!?)

So 95 + 25 = 120

off to the linen closet!

My goal is 500 by this weekend - starting tonight when I get home from work

I will do an update when I put the baby to bed at 8.

Take care,

I'm at 97/500... hoping to still get a bit done before bedtime... but Lem is being difficult right now. I'm almost here with mostly garbage... I might increase my goal to the full 1000.

Utility room clean and useable again, thanks to all of you! I am so motivated to do this decluttering! :

So I can add...

1 (very big) trash bag
1 bag of general recycling
and 8 pairs of old glasses to be donated to the local opticians

soooo... 128+10=138/1000

Better go to bed, it's New Year's Eve Day already!! Happy New Year's Eve everyone :

I was averaging 20-25 a day but today I doubled my total and then some AND tackled one of those spots- under the kitchen sink: it looks so much better and now i actually know whats under there.

71+79= 150

I was aiming for 100 but I've easily surpassed that and have a few more areas to tackle. i think i can reasonably reach 300 so in order to motivate myself to get rid of some of those things i'd otherwise hold on to i'm aiming for 500 so...

150/500
Well I powercleaned while Lem followed me around... so I did get more done. I'm still mostly just hitting on trash and recycling.... but I cleaned out my medicine cabinet - almost everything had expired! I'm currently at 242/500 (but may raise to 1,000).

Take care,
El

me too! but I'm *not* counting. ... I'm going through all my old school work from the 80's and taking pictures of the memorable stuff. and then, it shall be burned. Never again will I lug those freaking boxes around with me.

It's feels so freeing.

I'm also trying to start a cleanse for my own body... we'll see how that goes

I like to paint on big pieces of glass in addition to canvas, plus I have about a million tubes and tubs of paints, brushes, sculpting tools, etc... If anyone is in a similar situation and has a great organizational method, or photos would be even better, that would be great. Our house is small!
what about one of those plastic drawer thingies? Yk, the ones with like 3 or more drawers that you can get next to the rubbermaid containers at the store? I love those for my craft supplies.

Can I join in? I've never posted in this forum before, but I've been really feeling the need to declutter so I thought I'd check it out. I'm excited to join you guys, this gives me a goal to work toward.

I cleaned out the kids' summer clothes that won't fit next year so there is another 50 or so items.
OK, cleaned out my whole desk, dd's dresser & my closet. Not counting the clothes yet since they are still here and not at Goodwill.

I'd say, I filled a whole Trader joes paper bag with paper trash, so I'll say 100/1000

Halfway through reading the posts, I stopped and went to work. In about 1/2 hour I bagged 3 bags for the trash, one huge bunch of blankets, towels and pillows for the animal shelter. I cleaned out half of our homeschool resources - this was hard but reality is we have grown from where we were and so many wonderful new topics keep coming in our life I made room to let them in!

My method is taking 1/3 to 1/2 of each group of items and clearing them out. Except books! Though I will probably remove a random bunch.

Anybody here treasure map? This all seems to be an accelerated version of mine and it needs to come from letting go.

I am one to always find a use or useful place for things but I'm taking advantage of a phone call I got for a charity pick up and am just passing it all along. It is hard not to separate into piles for consignment and craigslist but it is time to let things go.

The only two things I'm selling are my Phil and Ted Stroller and an XL stash of cloth diapers.

off to keep going....

rules of thumb:
If I have not used it in the last year - let it go.
If it is not currently useful or absolutely beautiful - let it go.

Maybe my "treasures" will find new life somewhere else.

Wow! What a great perspective. There are some items that I do have a hard time letting go of - gifts that I don't love, but that came from special people. To keep them as family heirlooms or not? Some things the answer, easily is NO. Others are not so clear to me. Your perspective is helpful.

I'll add at least 2 more puzzles (returning to owner) today for a grand total of 34.

I'm at 130. Got kind of annoyed at dh for cleaning out our wardrobe as I couldn't count the things he threw out in my total, lol!
