DS was introduced to the idea of the Tooth Fairy today by some of his cousins. He asked why she was missing some teeth and she started talking about putting teeth under your pillow and getting money from the Tooth Fairy. I didn't know what to say. We don't do Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc, but it's not up to me whether other kids are taught about them or not. DS hasn't said anything about it (I don't think he was really listening) but how do you deal with teaching them something's not real when other kids insist it is?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

we do santa & the tooth fairy, but we don't do the easter bunny. i just told my daughter some people celebrate easter with the easter bunny but we don't. it's fun for the kids to believe though, so please let their parents be in charge of telling them the truth. anyway, it worked for us and she seemed satisifed with my explanation. hope that helps.

Hi there -
Not sure how old your little one is... but this will likely be an ongoing conversation for your family.
We do celebrate fake things like santa but don't do A LOT of things other families do. Like we don't do as much sugar as other families and not as much TV for sure. So we talk about how different families do different things. I can see my children's dissapointment sometimes when they see kids doing things we don't. But I try to address it later and talk about all the great things we DO do in our family.
Also not sure if you're affiliated with any religion but i do know some religions don't acknowledge some of the things you listed so they may have some ideas for you. Also I'd ask some of my sweet jewish friends who've had to grow with this Christmas at every turn. I'm sure they'd have some insight too.
HTH! Good luck!
