Serious disinfecting without bleach?

Thread Starter
Our dog had diarrhea all over the carpet last night. We used our steam cleaner to clean up the carpet but, the poop water got dumped in the kitchen sink :

What now? Is hot soapy water enough? How about vinegar? Does it really disinfect like my sink now needs to be disinfected?

Oh, yikes! I thought this forum was "natural home AND body care" but now I see it's only natural body care. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.

Hot soapy water is fine. Boiling a pot of water and pouring it in is a good idea; diluted lemon, orange, or pine oil are also options.

vinegar combined with hydrogen peroxide rivals bleach. But it could bleach out your carpet, maybe ...

Are you looking for a carpet cleaner or a sink cleaner? For the sink, I'd probably use some dishsoap and soap it up really well. And the boiling water idea sounds like a good one! A spray or wipe with vinegar after shouldn't hurt, and might put your mind at ease. That should kill just about anything!

oops - i misread the OP - I personally wouldn't worry about the sink, but that's just "me"
