Happy New Years Mamas (a day late )

I cannot believe it's 2009 Yesterday I spent all day asking how time can possibly go so fast. I just can't believe it. My niece was born on New Years Day 2008 (and was the first baby of the year in her city ). Now she's a whole year old and I'm going to be delivering my own new baby so soon. Wow!

I have my master to do list of things I need to get done and stay on top of until the baby is born. The thing is huge At my appointment on the 30th my midwife was encouraging me and told me only 3 more weeks and then the baby could come any time and I told her that he or she better stay in until their due date because I'm not ready yet

I can't believe in 12 days (or less if someone else goes early) the first baby of our DDC will be here. That is so exciting! : I am definitely ready to start reading other peoples birth stories... just not feeling ready to have my own for at least another month yet.

Yeah, that is really really fortunate. I hadn't thought of that before, but usually at least one mom in a DDC has a real preemie. *knock on wood*

So yay for us that no babies are here yet!

You all are freaking me out! I'm not due until the end of February- so all this preperation stuff seems unreal. I can't believe one baby will be born in a couple weeks!

Agreed!! I'm due on the 25, so mine could quite likely come in March. I am starting to feel the time crunch though. I have one more week of work left, then I am unemployed until May. I go back to school on the 14th of January. I'm looking forward to the mental distraction school will give me, but I'm having a much harder time getting around and am not looking forward to the trek around campus with all my books at the end of my pregnancy. I have my first shower on the 18th, another on the 30th, and another in the first couple weeks of February. Then it'll be baby time! Oh man, I just can't wait to meet this little girl!

You know what I'm really excited about? Getting out of these maternity clothes!!! : I don't love any of my maternity clothes. Okay, I kind of love my maternity winter coat, that's about it. Other than that they are all slightly mismatched, hand-me-downs or sale finds, or the cheapest I could get, most of them don't fit perfectly, make-do-for-now clothing. Blah blah blah. I feel frumpy and unpretty in them.

I will have a little bit of money to spend on some new clothing this late winter and I am currently salivating over www.hemponthehill.com. Mmmmmmmm . . .

I am going to be pro-active and call for myself to make an appointment with my new doctors. I was told to wait until they call me but considering I only have 3 1/2 weeks to get to know these new doctors I'm not wasting time waiting around for them.

At least I found out the hospital I'm delivering at only has private rooms. No worries about having to share!

I'll be 36 weeks on Sunday! My baby could be here in two weeks but I've never had one that early so I don't really expect it to happen. Last night I got 4 extra meatloafs made up and frozen so i have a start on post partum meals. We ate the fifth and it was yummy. Maybe today I'll bake some snack breads to freeze.

I actually like most of my maternity clothing but it will be nice to wear some of my favorite skirts again.

Me too!
ALL of my maternity clothes are ill-fitting hand me downs, or stuff I've borrowed from DP (she's bigger than me). Every morning I have to put on something frumpy or lame. I can't wait for summer! My own clothes! Cute skirts and little tanky tops! Bring it on!

I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow and all had been going swimmingly until I acquired a wicked UTI, a debilitating cold, and vulvar variscocity all in one day. I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck. I can't breath, my yoni hurts, and I'm trying to do the don't-get-a-yeast-infection dance with my antibiotics and probiotics.

And for you early c-section mamas ... you are SO CLOSE! My goddess, I can't believe it.

s&d, bless your heart! What a crap day, indeed.

LTB, I'm so with you on the maternity clothes. I cannot WAIT to be able to be comfortable in clothing once more.

Am going to the health food store today and picking up some nettles and alfalfa for more vitamin K (I hemorrhaged last time pretty bad), and some homeopathics and EOs for my labor kit.

I'm excited about that bit, which is silly. But still....

I had a bad night last night -- lost my temper with my toddler, then of course felt like crap over it. She however, was blissfully unaware apparently (thankfully). But I woke up this morning feeling like I'd pulled muscles in the lower front of my abdomen. And my sacrum is really hurting. So i've been sitting on the birth ball pretty much all morning.

I missed the chance to get into my chiro this morning instead of waiting till monday and I popped the right front tire of my van on a mysterious something in my driveway. My ears are stinging a bit from our windy walk to the bank but the kids handled it well. I gave them some apple to snack on and after I rest for a bit I'll make us some lunch. It's a blah kind of day outside but I'm looking forward to the fact that my husband doesn't have to work this weekend.

My friend at church had her baby today. She was exactly 4 weeks ahead of me. She had her baby 1 week early.

Okay . . . so, now I am getting antsy. Up until Jan. 1st . . . and my friend having her baby . . . I was fine with waiting. . . was in no hurry. Now, I am getting impatient!

My hands are absolutely killing me. (the carpal tunnel thing) It's going to be a long 5 weeks or longer!

Nighten - My midwife (and lots of others I've heard) are okay with using Pepcid Complete for pretty severe heartburn. All ingredients are Class B. I'm the type that gets heartburn beginning at around 13 weeks, and it gets severe by 24 weeks, so I've been taking Pepcid for a while now. On the worst days I take one in the morning and one in the evening. But there are some days (depending on what I've eaten) that I only need one...or occasionally even none! Hope that helps.

I haven't posted on this thread in months, but the excitement of the approaching arrivals has got me bouncing around on the board much more frequently again. I can't believe the time has passed so quickly.

I hit 34 weeks yesterday, which is officially the earliest I could have my baby and actually stay at my local hospital (and not have to travel an hour+ to a NICU facility). As of next weekend (Jan 10 - my bday!), I'm homebirth eligible, though I think DH and I decided we wouldn't stay home until I hit 36 weeks (Jan 15). My last two babes arrived 2-2.5 weeks early, so I expect this one to be early too. Plus it has been a much harder pregnancy. We'll see. Put it this way though - I'll be VERY surprised if I make it to February.

We've got almost everything ready. Birth tub is set up (though not cleaned yet). Clothes are washed. There is a bit of organizing supplies still to do, but at least everything is bought. I need to work on making food though - that is what I should do for the next 3 weeks. My last day of work is Jan 22nd (assuming no baby yet), and I'm really looking forward to it.

Oh, and IRT young mamas - I'm definitely envious of those with a few less years under their belts. My first was born just before my 30th birthday, my second when I was 31, and this one will be when I'm (just barely) 33. I feel a lot older now that I did even 3 years ago. Thinking about 10 years ago...wow...I was a spring chicken!

I got the infat car seat today and got everyone all moved around in the car and the new seat installed (to get the other kids used to it before there is a bay=by in it). It is so exciting!

I'm so with y'all on the maternity clothes - less and less of them are even fitting me anymore even though I'm not that huge I'm down to a few things that are comfortable.

I saw my midwife on Weds and she agreed to wait on an internal until I'm at least 36 weeks, which is when she is willing to deliver at home (for me - fudging dates a little). We have our home visit next week... I have everything ready for the birth and am excited, but still hoping to hold on to the baby as long as possible.

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law are here and we're having a family shower tomorrow. My daughters helped plan all the games and such and they are having fun. I never had a shower with my last baby, and her sisters was 12 years ago so I'm excited!

Thats a great idea - getting the kids used to it. I've been wondering how they will handle the closeness, having all 3 in the backseat. I think practicing for a few weeks without the baby is a very smart idea. Thanks!

I'm doing OK with maternity clothes, but the pictures from Christmas really were unflattering, so now I'm just ready to be back to normal. These heavy sweaters aren't doing me any favors, even tho I still feel pretty small, I obviously don't look it! :

I've had two really stressful days and have gotten upset a couple times and now the lower front of my abdomen is hurting a lot. Is this normal? No bleeding or serious cramps and baby's moving okay.

Just stress?

Hope you feel better Nighten. Perhaps you should spend some time resting on your left side and see how you feel. Probably just strained some ligaments.

DH and I went and bought everything we had left to get except the big all terain stroller (we are using a used snap and go for the first few months)!! I had a bunch of discounts at BRU and ended up saving over $150. Got all the blankets and clothes and bedding, and random things we still needed. Yay!! We also got a bunch of things to help us organize the rest of our house. It's so hard to make room for a baby in a 2 bedroom apartment when 1 of those rooms is being taken over by her. Not that the entire house isn't being taken over by her! So now I still need to wash the clothes and bedding and organize everything in the nursery but at least we have it.

We spent 6+ hours out shopping and eating lunch. I'm feeling sore from all that standing!

I actually went and bought a new pair of maternity pants the other day. And seriously considering buying another. Old Navy is having a great sale, and I got them for $13. A steal! I figure I could have 6 or 7 weeks more to go, so I deserve the ability to change my freakin pants! Other than these new ones, I'm down to 1 pair of pants that are public-worthy. Another 2 pairs that are ok for around the house. bah.
