Welcome, Noah Kai!

After going to the hospital on Saturday with terrible localized pain in my lower left abbdomen, the nurse checked my cervix, announced it was totally close (she even had to walk it forward), and told my my pain was probably ligament or muscular in nature.

I went home, had a bath, a nap, then dinner, and the same pain started again. I thought I was terrible constipated or had pain from doing quick turns the night before to ctach my son's vomit (it was a long Friday night). I basically couldn't sleep at all Saturday night, and my pain was localized in the left abbdomen and hip, with no let up. Around 7am Sunday I told my husband we needed to go back to the hospital becuase something was wrong. He took a shower, had breakfast, and got stuff ready. I started having intense contractions for about 10 minutes, then told my husband he had to get our son in the car. He strapped DS in the car, I walked out to the, then walked back in a yelled that I had to push now!

Poor DS was strapped in his car seat as I screamed at DH to call 911 (we were not prepared for a homebirth at all!). I got to the bathroom, got down on hands and knees and within 5 minutes, did 3 pushes, water broke on the 2nd push, and out came Noah Kai! DH caught him (with 911 on the phone walking him through it as he was a little panicked). EMTs came within 30 seconds of the birth, which was good becuase Noah was a little blue and needed oxygen. We went to the hospital by ambulance while my parents (who arrived right after the EMTs) took care of older DS. We came home this afternoon, and luckily older DS understood what was happening and has welcomed his little brother.

Noah Kai was 7lb 15oz, 20.75 inches long, born into his father's hands at home on December 28.

(The hospital wanted to give me a tetanus shot because I gave birth at home.. I politely declined.)

Labor!

No seriously - that was just my body doing one long contraction for 8 hours. The pain went away after birth.

A tetanus shot? Did they think you broke your own water with a rusty nail?

What an amazing story to be able to tell. Congratulations! :

Wow! That's a great story, although it sounds like it would have been scary at the time. I am glad to hear everyone is ok, and DS isn't traumatized. Welcome Noah Kai! :
