Amanda Peet PSA

Has anyone seen the new PSA where she talks about how it's so important to vaccinate? It shows pictures of children in AFRICA with polio cases and some pictures of children with Measles seemingly in the US.

In another interview for Cookie magazine she says how her brother is an infectious disease Dr. Does that kind of make him biased??? isn't that all he sees???

This left me feeling bad and I am not sure why.

I selectively vaccinated DD and this baby w have decided not to vaccinate, but the PSA still rubbed me the wrong way.

anyone know who is responsible for vaccinateyourbaby.org?

From the "About Us" section...obviously just cutting and pasting the main info...

Vaccinate Your Baby is an awareness campaign that was launched by Every Child By Two, an organization devoted to raising awareness of the critical need for timely immunization and to foster a systematic way to immunize all of America's children by age two.

Every Child By Two (ECBT) was founded by former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and former First Lady of Arkansas Betty Bumpers...

ECBT works in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct educational programs for healthcare providers.

Every Child By Two's Vaccinate Your Baby campaign is made possible through an unrestricted, educational grant from sanofi pasteur.

Yeah WOW..OK Now I realize the load of crap it really is! LOL

I was like, "UH, does Amanda Peet have children???" Which she does. I wonder just how much "research" she actually did????

And anything involved with the CDC, I just brush off. Cover up central...

Her research was talking to Dr. Offit about vaccines (he's a friend of her brother's apparently).

It makes me so sad in general that most of us find it completely normal to look to people who are PAID ACTORS for our medical advice :-).
Sad thing is- I know I do it to. And I know that I'll find myself tearing up watching Jenny McCarthy and getting so angry at Amanda Peet for being so "ignorant".

Overall I think (or at least hope) that most parents- whether famous or average joes- just genuinely want what's best for their child and respect other people's rights to do the same.

I also kinda wonder though- you'd think with all the money the CDC has, they could get someone MORE famous than random Amanda Peet to be the face for "the cause". It makes me think that all the big names realize how truly controversial this issue is and they wouldn't want their face on something they couldn't 100% agree with.

Omg!!

I was just going post about this. Her retraction, or lack there of calling non-vaxxers "parasites" was too much.

I'm wondering if her less than A list status makes her seem a little more, well, average? Mainstream even?

It really made me angry though.

I am glad she *thinks* she has made the best decision for her daughter but to use her "celebrity" status to sway others is LAME.
