The Secret History of the War on Cancer

I've been totally rapt by this book of late. Devra Davis is amazing, and a whistleblower on so many levels. There are so many examples of limitations on the amount of information that the public is allowed to know--limitations that are harmful to say the least. She also goes into detail about how high the bar has been set to prove that substances in our environment actually cause cancer in humans (i.e. making the data almost impossible to get) even when these substances are well known to cause cancer in animals. I put this posting in the vax forum because there are so many issues that would probably also apply to the "institutionalization" of vaccination. Has anyone else read this, thoughts??

Thanks for posting this. I have not read that book but have read a lot about the subject in general.

Does she say anything about the "cancer vaccine"?

I mean the HPV (crap) shot?

Stop me before I lose it!

She so far hasn't mentioned much about vaccination at all. I'm not sure what her stance is on the issue, but I can't imagine that she wouldn't be drawing some parallels! The "nature of the beast" is essentially the same. It's really helpful to hear some analysis of this kind from an epidemiologist--someone who has essentially been "on the inside" and who knows how numbers and data can be used--and abused. She totally validates the concept that just because something has not been definitively shown to cause harm does not mean that it doesn't cause harm. Hello! How many times of late have we been fed garbage about "of course, it's safe" on the basis of very limited information. The hubris! Studies that are not designed to find harm, won't find it!

Science, by it's very nature, is incomplete!

Aaaggh! I must go back to reading some Bill Bryson or Alice Munro. At least they don't make me so angry! So much to read so little time!

Cheers!
