Would you "lose" LO's vax record?

It has occurred to me that I could "lose" ds's vax record right now and no one would ever know.

He was born in AZ and got all his vaxes until 1 yr old. Then we stopped vaxing. Since then dh has gotten out of the military and we have ds's hard copy medical files. He hasn't been seen by anyone else. We've moved, we live in VA now. I'm wondering if it could help me somehow in the long run to just say he's never had any vaxes and to simply remove those pages from his file?

I know in some states a religious exemption can sometimes be troublesome to obtain if some vaxes have already been done. In VA it doesn't seem too hard but we're also not likely to stay in this state forever. We move around every few years and there's no telling where we might be 5-10 yrs from now.

You can have a religious revelation at any time, no time constraints on that. So, I don't know - it doesn't seem that it would be a problem in most states.

I'm just worried we'll end up some place like NY which is iffy on the ability to get a religious exemption, kwim? Also we may be going overseas at some point and I have no clue how any of that would work...it would be someplace like England or Germany.

I don't remember reading that you're required to disclose the child's past vaccine history for a religious exemption--but maybe some tough states require it? We've never had anything I consider medically important documented by a doctor, so I've stopped transferring records. Our newest doc didn't even ask for old records, I just filled in a patient health history form. So maybe you don't need to be that formal, just don't mention it. But truly, a religious epiphany should be all that's required, though yeah, some states are really inappropriate about how they go about this.

They have a vaccination registry... meaning that all they have to do is look up your childs name, and all info. is there for schools and hospitals...

You can opt out though... I thought about that as welll... I think against religion is the best, personally...

Can you tell me more about the vaccination registry and how to opt out? (Specifically, in PA state) - I googled it briefly, is it something that is still being developed?

I just don't disclose my older two's vax status. They both received some vaccines and I honestly have lost their actual yellow "shot record".

When enrolling them in school, I print out a (completly blank) copy of the immunization card from the districts website, sign the religious exemption (get it notarized now that I live in NM) and send it to the health department. In CO it was as easy as choosing an exemption and signing it. Here it's a bit more complicated as I have to wait for the health department to "approve" and then take the school copies.

Anyway, my point is, as far as the school knows, I am religiously opposed to ALL vaccinations and my children have had none of them I really am opposed to all vaxes, I just didn't realize it until my 3rd child was born. Seems easier this way and to me, anyway, it's not really their business. If there were an outbreak and I was required by law to keep my children home, that's just fine and dandy with me

It depends on what state you live in. Not all states have them. My old state didn't have it until just recently. Usually you can google "State's Name vaccine registry" and come up with a good link to know more about it.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Plus now that ds is 4 yrs old and he only had vaxes up to his 1st b-day, basically none of them are considered up to date except perhaps the Hep B so he'd have to be out of school during an outbreak anyways. There's not gonna be a Hep B outbreak obviously so it doesn't help any to disclose that he had that particular vax.

I wouldn't.

My 5 yr old got vax's til 3. I enrolled her in K with no problem and she was missing like 3 of the end doses of a few the school wanted i gave them her yellow form and a vax waiver and it wasn't a issue they just made copies of both forms.

yeah, so as far as the school nurse is concerned, your child hasn't received the "required" vaxes anyway since he just started the series and didn't get the follow-up shots. To me, it just seems easier to claim a religious exemption and keep that info to yourself. Otherwise you may (depending on the state, and the school nurse -mine is kinda nosey and annoying TBH) find yourself trying to explain why you started then stopped, and clarifying which ones he received. For what? if there really was an outbreak, he's not up to date anyway. I figure even if it meant keeping my DD home unnecesssarily (say she had received all of the hep B before we stopped vaxing) then it's worth it. It's not like then I'll suddenly say, "hey wait, here's evidence she did receive those shots years ago, please let her stay in school these few days" It's not likely to happen, and I don't have any issue with my kid missing school in a situation like that.
