As a Professional Tutor I have the best success when I am allowed to use the following curriculum:

Math: http://www.mathusee.com/

spelling: http://www.avko.org/sequentialspelling.html It teaches root words first, and then expands.

Early Reading, Phonics & basic Spanish: http://www.read-phonics.com/

Early reader books: http://www.bobbooks.com/

Note: Regulations often require me to use Government approved workbooks, which the kids hate. I fill in with the above to motivate and to get results.

http://www.lessonpathways.com

FREE curriculum for Pre-K through 5th grade. It takes some practice and effort getting used to the layout but the content is very good! My daughter is starting the K curriculum in a few weeks and I've been printing lessons to get everything ready and I'm impressed! I think the Grade 2 curriculum is quite advanced for most 2nd graders (language arts, anyway) but it can easily be modified. There is a good mix of writing, crafts and experiments. Some areas need some fleshing out (mostly science and history) but it i easy to plan ahead and add materials as you see fit.

Overall, a bit of time needs to be invested but seeing that the financial investment is minimal (just providing books) it is worth it to me!

One-stop shop, but FREE, tests, assessments, etc...

www.oklahomahomeschool.com/assesstest.html

FREE--OVER A DOZEN TESTS. Excellent list of several different tests for math, reading, learning style assessment, general assessments, rubrics, 30-minute IQ test, etc.

They also have ACT and SAT tests at very low prices ($3, $4, etc.).

GOTTA CLICK ON "exam for an 8th grade education in 1895"---FUNNY AND HARD. (Scroll down about 1/3.)

I used the website for tests and placement, used several of them on their list, and they were all online tests--didn't have to print things and the kids enjoyed them fairly well. I wanted to be sure we were on track and they were at the right grade level. Mission accomplished.
