Please keep Shelbyscout in your thoughts!

Hello ladies!
I am not a member of your ddc (I am in the Oct. ddc) but I am a friend of Shelby's IRL and on another forum.
She gave me the go-ahead to update you all on what is going on with her as she is in the hospital.
She went in on Saturday the 27th with (hopefully mild) congestive heart failure. As you know, she had her adorable little son Theo
on Dec. 24th after a looooong labor. Her doctors had been concerned about her heart all throughout her pregnancy and it seems that her long labor is what probably triggered the congestive heart failure. The fortunate news is that she caught this very early, which is the best thing for treating congestive heart failure.
Please send lots of prayers for Shelby!
With luck she hopes to be home soon with her little guy!
He was able to visit her for 4 hours yesterday and that really lifted her spirits. I can't imagine being away from my baby myself especially just after a long labor.
The very latest on Shelby as of this afternoon (Monday the 29th) is that:

Shelby is on the mend! She said she is feeling much better. Her regular doctor saw her today and does not believe there is any lasting damage to her heart (a full recovery is expected). She should be able to get an echo of her heart this evening and anticipates going home tomorrow!

She really misses little Theo, her "little mouse", so I am sure she is anxious to get in for that echo.
Let us hope she gets her echo tonight and that she will be able to go home tomorrow.

Sending some prayers and hugs her way, this must be so difficult for her physically and emotionally to be separated from her baby as well.

My mom had CHF-she was hospitalized for 8 days. What a hard time. Thankfully I was just 4-5 mos pregnant. I could still walk and get out places with the kids. If it was now, I don't know what I would do! I can't imagine having to be the one to be hospitalized, especially after having a new baby!

I've been thinking of you and Theo, Shelby!

Thank you so much for the prayers, everyone, and special thanks to OrchideZ for starting and updating this thread.

I am back home and have my hands full with taking care of Theo :. I have a history of heart problems and the fluid overload from delivery proved to be too much for my heart to handle all at once. However, after 3 days in the hospital, I lost 20 pounds and an additional 7 since I've been home. I guess that's one way to do it! Anyway, I'm feeling tons better and my lungs are clear. My doctor thinks there's no reason why I shouldn't make a full recovery. We are so very thankful.

I'm just loving being a Mommy, even when my little mouse turns into a little diablo in the middle of the night . He's sleeping and eating great and is just as cute as can be.

Welcome back, Shelby! :

It's great that you are feeling better. CHF is a hard thing - my mom lost almost 30lbs of fluid in the hospital, she was so excited! She hadn't seen her ankles in about a year and thought she was "just getting fat from the meds"

Sounds like Theo is making up for lost time, lol! Keep us posted on how you are feeling!
