I found a really cool tutorial for a birthday crown and finally decided to make the attempt. My little son is two years old today!! And the only thing he knows about birthdays is that there should be hats and cake.
I didn't get on the ball in time to get the advent spiral/birthday spiral that I picked. But I knew I could do the crown at least.
This morning he saw it and was really excited---then looked around for cake of course!
We're not doing our family party (just DH, DS and I) until New Year's day, but he's got a little celebration at daycare today, so I wanted his special crown done in time. He proudly wore it into daycare today and showed the other kids. His daycare lady is happy to let him wear it as much as he wants today and she's got a special little party planned after nap-time. I splurged a bit and got wool-blend felt and it's so nice and sturdy! But now I have enough felt to make about six more crowns!!! Oh well. I can do ornaments for the tree next year or something.

And I won a point from DH...he thought a birthday crown might be a little goofy until he saw it. One of these days he's realize that my goal is not to make our son look silly! He always doubts my plans until he sees the results! He'll learn. Now DH wants his own birthday crown on his birthday! :P
