Ouch - is he biting me?

For the last few days I have had pretty severe pain in one nipple every time DS (12 MO) nurses. At first, I thought that he was biting me, but I am not completely sure. It is only on one side, and a very sharp pain.

Seems like I should be able to tell for sure if it is biting, but I can't.

It kindof feels like his little teeth are rubbing against my nipple, but not totally biting down (does that make sense?). It really hurts, and not my nipple is red. Is there something else that it could be? If it is biting, how do I make it stop? When he first got teeth a few months ago, he bit me a few times (very clearly biting that time), and I stopped and told him "no" and he did not do it again. But this time it is more like rubbing with his teeth (maybe?), and telling him "no" has not worked.

are there teeth marks where he may be rubbing you? - the latch can get funny everytime they teethe. if its a stinging, could it be thrush?

Does thrush happen to one nipple and not the other? There are no teeth marks.
