I will be going along with another MDC friend and my family! We are going to stay the weekend this year and have the kids check out the zoo and stuff as well as the demonstration.

Don't miss the Spy Museum (it's not one of the free federal institutions, but it's really cool - I'd say for any kid over 10, or super-bright younger kids. The holocaust memorial was super-crowded at the start of the course - it was like they let a bunch of people in all at once - but of course it's not to be missed on any account.

See y'all on the Lawn.

have you heard anything about local things? I would love to go to DC but I think we could do more good doing a national hometown thing. Is there something like this that I'm just missing?

I went a few years ago and would love to go again. The problem is we had to use family vacation time and $ to do it. We had to fly (we live in TX) but got pretty good flight fares. The main problem was DC being a very expensive place to stay and this demonstration coincides with the yearly Cherry Festival. I don't know if hotels jack up their rates during this time or if it's always uber expensive, but hotel, meals, transportation and the like cost the two of us about $2,000 for 5 days/4 nights. Our hotel was reasonably close to the Capitol (still had to take a short train ride to get there), but in no way was it the Ritz Carlton. For that price, it really should have been.

So my advice for those who may drive or fly in, plan ahead! The hotels book early due to the festival. If you can stay with relatives of friends or room-share with others planning to be at the demonstration, even better! DC isn't cheap for an out of towner and I'm not sure hotel accommodations can be done on the fly that time of year.

We have reservations at the hyatt regency in Crystal City and also another hotel more downtown. We will decide which to keep closer to the date.

For those making travel plans for this...NOCIRC is holding a reception in the DC area the evening of March 29th to celebrate 30 years of NOCIRC intactivism, and all the progress made. A bunch of us are staying in the hotel where the reception is being held, and this is a great opportunity to meet the head of NOCIRC, Marilyn Milos, and the heads of several other genital integrity organizations like DOC, ICGI, and ARC. Also, the director of the newest genital integrity organization, Intact America (www.intactamerica.org) will be speaking there as well. It really will be an exciting night for intactivists. I hope you all will try to come.
