A supply-problem post

DS is almost 14 mo. He has decreased is daytime nursing, but still nuses like a champ at night. He does only drink water or EBM from his sippy cup throughout the day, so I still pump while at work to meet his needs. I will also pump on my days off if it starts to approach 5-6 hours without nursing. I was just on vacation from work for 9 days and we did travel for 4 of those days and I did not take my pump.
Now I am back to work and yesterday I only got 5 oz after 3 pumping sessions! My left breast really worries me as it is only putting out about 1/2 oz per session. Today my supply has been equally low.
I ran by WF and picked up Fenugreek and oatmeal.
Ideas please.

Also, I am at work right now (see siggy) and our LC called me to put in a prescription for Reglan for a client of hers. I casually asked what she thought about Fenugreek and she stated "it does not work after the baby is 1 mo".
Does this sound right?

I've never heard of that with regards to fenugreek; I would ask her where she heard that.

Your supply is probably just taking a dip because you didn't pump for a few days... get the demand back up and it should return to normal, especially if you've never had an issue before. Fenugreek and oatmeal can't hurt though!

I would not go on Reglan - once you stop the supply tanks and it causes depression.

I agree it will return. pump for about 5+ min after your boobs are "done." Get lots of water and good fats before pumping. Try mama's milk tea.

Oh no, I was not considering taking Reglan...she was asking me to put in a prescription for one of her clients (she does not have prescriptive authority and I do) and I just used it as an opportunity to ask her opinion of Fenugreek.

Thanks for the reassurance!

Regarding fenugreek, I've been taking that since DD was 6 weeks old-and I've certainly had results! My milk supply increased in the very first week, and, still now, at 10 months, I noice a dip in my supply if I don't take it for only one day!

I don't think blessed thistle helped me at all, and the breastfeeding tea, not so much, but fenugreek, certainly!
