Challenge Yourself! Spend 2009 reading!

Last year I made it my goal to read 100 books in 2008. Sadly, with a huge move and finding out I was pregnant and other life changing events I missed out. (I stopped keeping count but I guess it's around 70)

So I want YOU to set a goal for 2009 (you can join at any time) and work towards it. Keep track of your progress in your original post (wear out that edit button) I'll try my best to keep updating this post to keep everyone in lists. Please keep your goals in quantities of 10.

Anyone game?

What a great idea! I joined a gym and am hoping to use bibliotherapy to distract me from the pain, LOL!

I'm a seriously voracious reader, so please, no one be offended by my goal. In 2009, I want to read 200 new books. I need to break out of some ruts.
My goal is to read all the books on my bookshelf before I check out any more library books for myself (I can't say "any" full stop cuz dd reads as much as I do and checks out books as often).

I have a stack of library books by my bedside that I will finish first. Then, onto the ones on the bookshelf!

(and even better, I plan to donate or sell the books I read that dh nor I want to keep)

I would like to read 100 books this year that I don't have to read for work. I'm always reading to prepare my lessons (I'm a high school English teacher), but I have seriously neglected my personal reading, so I want to challenge myself to read things that I want to read apart from my class preparation and trying to keep up with my students' reading interests. First up is The Omnivore's Dilemma, which I received for Christmas.

I don't see why we can't have both at once! This challenge is purely numbers for the entire year! I'll probably get involved in that one too!

I'm setting my goal at 80. I'll be giving birth and moving to a whole new house (after living in an apt) so I'll probably taper off later in the year.

Marking my spot...to ensure everyone gets listed
post #16 of 159
I'm in too. My kids have been picking up books moreso when I am reading while they are playing. I love it.

So I have the Twilight saga and then a few more by Robin Mckinley in the works for the next few weeks.

So put my goal at about 100 I guess. I usually read while I am doing cardio at the gym or while the kids are asleep. So we shall see....
I am horrible about picking up a book and reading and the kids are noticing it. My oldest is really enjoying his school library. So it is time for me to read more often so I will set my goal for 24. I know it is not much but it is a start
