Thanks! I see that you also recently read On A Pale Horse...have you read the rest of the series? I'm almost done and the intertwining relationships of the characters are making my head spin!

I've read all of them before, but was re-reading because a young friend recently started reading the series and wanted to discuss them. Piers Anthony is such an erratic author. The premise for the Incarnations books is so darned clever and the details of the world are well-developed. Some of the books were great fun (IMO, On A Pale Horse and For Love of Evil); some were pretty good (Being A Green Mother); and some kind of sucked (Wielding A Red Sword). Part of the reason that I've been re-reading them is that I'm certain that I do not remember the convoluted relationships in enough detail.

I'm finding Evil to be the oddest of this series so far...Anthony doesn't usually delve so deep into the evil in the human psyche. It actually disheartens me to read about a person falling that deeply into addiction to such morally wrong (for me) things. Especially with my husband dealing off and on with an addiction to porn, which he hates.

Maybe I should stop reading this one. It depresses me...

You know, to be completely honest, I haven't read For Love of Evil since it came out when I was a sophomore in high school. I would probably see it differently now. If you haven't read And Eternity yet, you might want to skip it. As I remember, it bothered me far more than For Love of Evil. Piers Anthony's sexism got to me in that one. Still, he is so interesting that I do come back to him from time to time.

BTW, how was Changelings? I've been feeling nostalgic lately (Anne McCaffrey was one of my favorites growing up) and thinking about reading it.

Changelings was actually pretty darn good, I thought. I saw alot of reviews saying it was "too short" or "too start-stop" but it felt fine to me. I loves me some Petaybee...

Cool. I'll see if my library has it.

I updated my OP, but had to bump this thread.

I don't know whether to laugh or vomit so I've settled on sobbing. I just finished The Kite Runner and it is, easily, one of the best books I have ever read. Words aren't coming to me right now to even express how I feel but I just had to write something.

If you haven't yet, you should pick up this book. It was hard to get through, it is brutal, but I'm so glad I did.

Bravo.

I agree with you. It was very moving. I haven't seen the movie, but from what I've heard, it's pretty disappointing compared with the book.

Oh, God no. I would never see that movie, ever. It would do nothing but ruin everything that I hold from that book.

I just finished The Secret Life of Bees and I enjoyed it, although not as much as TKR, and I'd never see that movie either.

I'm still pissed at The Da Vinci Code and will not be seeing Angels & Demons.

The Kite Runner was both beautiful and heart-wrenching. I couldn't bring myself to watch the movie, either.

Ooh, good, we can compare notes!

I've read Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, and am reading this now before I get Ender In Exile next week from the library. Apparently Exile has quite a bit of spoilerish stuff for this book, but not vice versa. Therefore, must read this one first.

I'm actually only like 2 pages into it, got distracted by video games. Lol!

I made the mistake of reading Ender in Exile first and, yeah, there were some spoilers. It was still fun. I'm only a little way into SOH, too.

LOL, I just don't think many of us read 5 books in 2 days like you do. Seriously, that's more than 2000 pages! What's your secret?

I'm kind of a fast reader. Most books take me an hour or two at most. I'm also an insomniac. Once I get the kids to bed, I tend to sneak in a book or two. Then, when I finally hit the bed, I end up listening to audiobooks on my ipod until I fall asleep. And, to make things worse, my degree is in English.

I'm a flaming nerd, it's true. It even runs in the family. My soon to be seven year old dd reads about 100 pages an hour. Our freak flag flies high.
