2009 writing goals

Thread Starter
I thought I'd like to get my 2009 goals actually written down to help motivate me. I'd like to hear what everyone else's goals are as well.

1. Reach clout 7 at AC. I know clout there really doesn't mean much, but it's a nice way for me to see some progress in my work. I'm about 400 PV shy of clout 6 right now.

2. Get 3 articles published in print. Since I haven't even sent out 1 query ever 3 articles sounds like a lot to me. I have one query mostly written now and the article over half written. It's a heavy duty research article so I want to have it largely done and ready for a quick turnaround time if the magazine bites on the query.

3. Turn my kids used clothes website into a paying venture. (And try to figure out why people join, but don't actually post.)

I think I'm going to let my blogs largely go by the wayside. I'm finding I'm just not really a blogger so I'd rather focus my limited time and energy on other writing.

The baby is a year old now so I'm hopeful that I can begin to get into more of routine with writing. Right now I go in fits and spurts - either I get some writing done and my house is a disaster or my house is fairly clean, but I've gotten nothing written. Balance right?

So what are your goals?

I just did my list on my blog but it wasn't very concrete. Reading yours, I realize I need to make definite goals, so here is my list straight from my blog with additions (underlined):

What I hope to accomplish in 2009:
1. Make a writing schedule for myself that I stick to as if it were a work obligation ("no, I'm sorry I can't bake 24 dozen cupcakes for this afternoon, because, well, I don't bake, and I have to work.")
2. Write this blog at least once a week, preferably twice.
3. Continue "The Tale of Two Couples." (The telling of this story became hard for me, something I wasn't expecting. I have yet to figure out why... still too close to the heart??)
4. Take the time to read more blogs - take one hour per week to search out new blogs and read favorite ones.
5. Write in my journal daily.
6. Read more of the magazines to which I would like to submit - read each email newsletter from Literary Mama and sign up for one more.
7. Write, write, write, submit, submit, submit... - 4 queries and/or direct submissions

I've just read two books on Freelance Writing. Now is the time to actually begin writing and submitting my work.

1) Research markets.
2) Query publications I've researched.
3) Write articles and essays for publication.
4) Publish a minimum of 5 pieces. The pay needn't be well to start out.
5) Write poetry, poetry and more poetry!
6) Submit my poetry to magazines.
7) Enter poems in writing contests (with no expectation of winning).

To accomplish all this, I will need to devote time every day (at least 15 minutes) to writing and/or researching.

Get 12 articles published in print. One a month, although it doesn't bug me if they're clumpy or scattered rather than every 30 days precisely. I have one that'll be published shortly, one I'm writing and one I need to write... so just need 9 more!

I don't have any Suite goals. I guess I should! Hmmm... a dollars-per-day average goal, a 'this much money by then' goal or a 'this many new articles' goal? I'll think on it.

My NaNoWriMo goal for this year is to rewrite and expand last year's attempt (finished, but short - only 22,000 words or so). I want to get it up to a respectable, publishable novel length.

Aaaand I want to win at ScriptFrenzy with my sister. Which will be interesting, because a) we've never worked together before, and b) we've never written a musical before!

My goals

I did NaNoWriMo for the first time ever last November, and I reached my goal with almost 51,000 words. I'm editing my novel right now, and I'm very excited about it.
I have one novel I started last Summer and I put on hold for Nano, so I want to get going with that, and the Junio Fiction series idea that came to my mind when I was meditating by the ocean.
Post on my blog at least twice a week.
Join a writers' group. My good friend attends one regularly, and it has helped her tremendously with her work.
Make the time EACH DAY to write or edit.
Have fun doing it!

Fix my novel so it's fit to read(I've got a ton of ideas on how to do this and I have 4 chapters rewritten.

Blog a lot...I've started my blog finally and I've written something almost every day.

Finish my non-fiction book which I'm guessing is around half done and publish it before year end.
