Constipation (TMI)

Thread Starter
I have tried everything and nothing is working. I just can't go. I have been taking fiber, eating oatmeal, drinking juice. I even switched from a prenatal with iron to a multi that doesn't have it. I need some help. My dr wants me to take Magnesium Citrate but it isn't rated for pregnancy. I am starting to bloat in my upper stomach area and its getting tender because I am so backed up. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I ended up drinking that NASTY stuff called Magnesium Citrate. It was terrible but I think it worked I am now able to do my business. Thank Goodness!!!

cherry juice, as well as prunes and dried cherries are great for helping you go.

cherry juice tastes better than prune juice, and works just as well/better

Oh, I am SO glad you posted this! I have half a bottle of concentrated tart red cherry juice in the fridge from when I had a kidney stone in November. Great to know I can use some for this purpose. The bottle is huge (and pricey!) and how many uses does a girl really have for concentrated cherry juice??

fwiw- my hub gets kidney stones, and i just give hom lemonade to help break up the stones naturally- what does the cherry juice do for kidney stones?

I ended up using vitamin B6 to help me cope with nausea and it had the nice side effect of helping with the constipation....turns out that people use it in large (unsafe!) doses to up their metabolism, so perhaps it helps keep the digestive tract from being too sluggish.

I'm taking 100 mg per day

Personally for me beets are a yummy way of getting things moving. Just don't be shocked when everything comes out purple. :-)

Colace (or a store brand knock-off) is the only thing helping me these days. I cannot stomach prunes or prune juice, but my mom swears by it.

I am having the same issue, but what seems to help the most is exercise. No matter how crappy (or should I say un-crappy?) I feel, a run gets things moving.

Or try a visit to the chiropracter. They can do wonders for your digestive system
