Breastfeeding while sick

Well, all of us: DH, me, DD, are all under the weather. I think it's affected my supply- I've never had such empty breasts before. I've always only had oversupply issues. Well, DD (9months) is just nursing nursing nursing because she doesn't feel well, but I don't think she's getting anything. Is there something I can do or do I just have to wait it out.

There is a small possibility that I might be pregnant- but I would only be like 3/4 weeks along- nothing that would affect supply yet I don't think. Very small chance, but still a chance. It's probably more likely that I'm not pregnant and I'm just experiencing a supply drop due to AF. But I'm also not feeling well- stuffy nose, congested head, that icky taste in my throat- you all know what I mean.

Keep nursing as much as possible and just keep an eye on her for signs of dehydration. She may have fewer wet diapers than usual as she's ill, but as long as she's still weeing okay and not showing any signs of dehydration you should be fine. It's most likely just a dip, made a bit worse by AF and sickness coinciding. Make sure you stay really well hydrated and as nourished as you can.
Hope you all feel better soon.

I was way sick on the Monday before Christmas...like 104 fever that Tylenol was not helping. Plus a sore throat and all that stuff. I know my supply was down because all my DD wanted to do was nurse, nurse, nurse. And she has never been a comfort nurser either. I ended up in the ER because my heart rate was out of control and my fever would not break. I stayed all night and got some fluids. I ended up having a bad case of Strep throat and my heart rate was wacky from the fever and dehydration. I just suggest to be sure that you drink as much as possible. It is easy to get dehydrated while nursing and especially when the temp drops and it gets dry. I hope you feel better soon.

Make sure you're not taking any decongestants-- they'll tank your supply from just one dose!

Feel better, momma-- drink and rest as much as possible.
