If it's been ground down to shiny metal, then any truly harmful toxins should have been removed, I would think.
What they say about cast iron getting better and better with use is so true. I have a few cast iron cookery items that I love, but I so covet my mother's best iron skillet. At least 60 years old, probably older, since it was passed to her around 1950, that pan literally fed my childhood.
