You've converted me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thread Starter
I just want to say that I've read MANY of the posts on here (all the way up through pg 175 ) and I just have to say that I REALLY don't think I could do a circ at this point. I can honestly say even when I was "pro circ" (didn't think one way or the other about it to tell the truth) that I could never figure out how circing a boy was okie dokie but "circing" a girl is against the law. It never quite added up to me. I would think about FGM and why when it's a girl it's "genital mutilation" but for a boy it's all "prettied up" and called by the epitapth "circumcision?" Faaaaaaaaaaar different sound/ring and connotation than what it REALLY is for boys as well, MUTILATION!!!!!

Alas, it is a moot point anyway b/c I am having my third, and last, girl and am perfectly fine with that.

Just thought I'd let ya'll know.

Good for you for seeing the light. It really makes me feel good to hear such news and being a bit drunk for new year's eve is only part of the reason why I'm so glad for you!

great to hear so many ppl are in denial that circumcision is "MGM" but when people perform MGM it effects the males Penis which alot of men can have complications with their Penis because of MGM but people who hear men speak out of their Unhappiness with being circumcised which btw I say they have every right to be but it's like people think there is something crazy with their mind same when men start to restore to get the 'feeling back what they lost' because they will never get their foreskin back nor will they get 'rid of the scar that was from their circumcision.

Many parents don't realize that babies due need sutures to stop bleeding or if a glans fell off I remembered I saw in this one area where there was a bunch of physician laughing say I accidentally sliced of the boys glans but stitched it back up and the parents didn't even know anything you know ?

congrats, mama! don't feel like you can't contribute to the cause just because you have all girls, though. you can still spread the word, and raise your daughters to keep their own babies intact, whether or not they are partnered with intact men!

circumcision is a HUMAN rights issue and all humans have a duty to speak out on human rights issues, IMO. just because i'm not black doesn't mean i can't speak out against racism, or just because i'm not poor doesn't mean i can't speak out against policies that harm the poor, etc. the mindset that so many (not you in particular, just generally speaking) that circumcision is something that only happens to boys, so only a) men and/or b) moms of boys should have the final say in whether it happens just contributes to the cycle of violence imo.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Even though you're having your last little girl, you can still share the info you know with family, friends, even strangers on other pregnancy boards. At the bare minimum, you can influence those you speak with to research circumcision further and hopefully open their eyes to what an unnecessary procedure this is.

oh believe you me, it doesn't end with your last girl. I sure wish it did! Each of your girls may have babies someday. Guess what? YOU get to educate each of them....because if you don't,
society will beat you to it! Mark my words. : This is you and society by the way. LOL. Great news, and thanks for posting!

YAY!! And hey, you never know what will happen after DD3 comes! This is an issue with adopted children too!!

Same here, OP! I always assumed circ was something done for medical reasons until I came to MDC. I have shared the info that I have learned here with my husband, and we won't be circing our soon-to-be-born son. We have told a few family members, none of whom have reacted supportively (my dad has hung up on me about it twice ) but we feel really good about our decision. :

: Hey, that's great! : Also, you may have a grandson to two in the future, so you can always tell your DD's when they get older how ANY circ of boys or girls is not right. Spread the word to anyone you know who is expecting a baby boy too!
